SSRA Commissioner General Hon. Simon Akuei Deng, formed a taskforce committee to oversee the movement of goods, eliminate illegal roadblocks, and resolve trade bottlenecks.
Speaking to the media in the joined meeting comprises of Kenya and Uganda Associations of Transporters and long-distance Truck Drivers Union Hon. Simon Akuei Deng said the formation of a taskforce committee is to signifies a proactive measure to address challenges within the trade with primary objectives to streamline the movement of goods, dismantle illegal roadblocks that impede trade, and ultimately alleviate broader trade bottlenecks.
Hon. Akuei pointed out that the taskforce's mandate is to identify and address the root causes and implements effective solutions that monitor progress to ensure sustained improvements in the trade environment, involve collaboration with various stakeholders, including customs officials, law enforcement agencies, and representatives from the private sector, to develop and implement comprehensive strategies.
This taskforce is a step towards improving trade facilitation, promoting economic development, elimination of illegal roadblocks and resolves a trade bottlenecks.
Undersecretary, Ministry of Trade and Industry Hon. Yel Luol Koor, said the implementation of the resolutions that are jointly agreed will foster economic growth and stability by ensuring the efficient flow of goods and services within the region.
Luol, added that, the in turn and smooth movement of good will boost economic activity, and improve the livelihoods of people involving trade.
The primary goals of the taskforce committee established by SSRA Commissioner General Hon. Simon Akuei Deng, is oversee the movement of goods, eliminate illegal roadblocks, and resolve broader trade bottlenecks.
Kenyan and Uganda, Transporter Associations and Truck Drivers Union Representatives of Mr. Sudi kauli Mwatela and Issac Katabzi, appreciates the formation of the taskforce committee by the SSRA Commissioner General as positive step towards improving trade facilitation in South Sudan. They said implementations of agenda and the focus of committee to eliminating illegal roadblocks and resolving trade bottlenecks will directly address the concerns of long-distance truck drivers from Kenya and Uganda who oftenly face significant challenges of illegal charges and delays.
The task force's efforts are expected to contribute to a more efficient and transparent trading environment, benefiting both the drivers and the economies of the country.
The success of the taskforce committee depends on its ability to effectively coordinate efforts, enforce regulations, and address the underlying issues that contribute to trade inefficiencies
The appreciation from Kenyan and Ugandan truck drivers' associations indicates a recognition of the potential positive impact of the SSRA's initiative on their operations and the broader trade environment.
