President Salva Kiir Mayardit has handed over the Chairmanship of the East African Community to Kenyan President, William Ruto after his 1-year tenure ended.

Kiir handed over to Ruto in an ongoing 25th East African Summit in the Capital, Arusha, Tanzania.

The DRC, set to assume the EAC chairmanship, abstained due to tensions with Rwanda and Kenya, leading to Ruto taking over the seat.
