The celebration of the appointment of Peter Lam Deng's wife is, in my view, misguided. I have observed graduates congratulating her, and I must express my concern that they may not fully grasp the implications of their support. It raises questions about their education and understanding of societal values.
A truly informed individual would advocate for what is right, rather than endorse actions that appear to lack integrity. For example, both Hon. Peter Lam Deng and his wife, Hon. Nyanuer Nyuon Bany, hold significant positions, yet there remains a lack of development in Ulang County and their own payam, Nyangore.
Moreover, it is concerning that during his tenure as SPLM-IG secretary, Hon. Lam primarily provided opportunities to Dinka youths while many local sons and daughters were left without jobs. This raises a critical question: why are we celebrating the appointment of someone who seems to prioritize personal gain over community welfare?
A true leader is one who takes care of their family and community, rather than one who appears self-serving and disconnected from the needs of those they represent.
