The Minister of Information, Communication, Culture, Youth, and Sports in Abyei, Hon. Yohana Akol Ngor, has urged young people to stay away from drug abuse and direct their energy toward education and sports, stressing that drugs hinder their academic and athletic development.

He made the call during the final of the Abyei Youth Union Championship, held as part of International Youth Day celebrations, following the victory of Abyei Super Eagle in the tournament yesterday, Thursday.

The Paramount Chief of the Nine Ngok Dinka clans, Bulabek Deng Kuol, also encouraged athletes to maintain their performance and work to develop football in the area.

Meanwhile, Acting Chairperson of the Youth Union, Ms. Achai Leng Deng, thanked partners for their support in organizing the tournament and congratulated both teams for their performance in the final.

In the final match of the Abyei Youth Union Championship, Abyei Super Eagle won the title after defeating Meding Achueng in a penalty shootout (5–4) at Cuei Ayak Playground.

A young South Sudanese man, Mayiik Tuong, has finally met First Lady Mary Ayendit after spending two days at the J1 presidential compound seeking assistance.

The meeting came about a week after Mayiik publicly said that his situation had become difficult and appealed for help from Manut Madut Kiir.

According to reports, Mayiik was initially blocked from entering the compound. He reportedly became emotional and cried at the gate, drawing attention to his situation.

He was eventually allowed to meet the First Lady and reportedly told her directly that his situation was out of hand and that he urgently needed help.

The First Lady reportedly gave Mayiik US$5,000 to help him address his immediate difficulties.
