BREAKING NEWS: Aweil East Youth Rejects Awan Muorkuau Meeting Call in Juba
The Aweil East County Youth Union in Juba has declined an invitation to attend an βurgent meetingβ organized by the Awan Muorkuau Youth Union (AMYU), citing a lack of proper administrative mandate and concerns over the tone of the invitation.
In a statement signed by Dr. Mark Aguot Diing Aguot, the Secretary for Information, the union stated that Awan Muorkuau is a Payam-level structure and therefore lacks the authority to convene or summon county leadership structures across Greater Bahr el Ghazal.
βOur position is based on the understanding that Awan is a Payam-level community structure and therefore does not possess the mandate or administrative jurisdiction to convene leaders representing Greater Bahr el Ghazal communities and counties,β the statement read.
The union further emphasized that matters concerning peace, unity, and community dialogue should be handled through consultation, coordination, and mutual respect among all institutions and stakeholders.
Despite rejecting the invitation, the Aweil East County Youth Union reaffirmed its commitment to peace, unity, and constructive engagement within the community.
The youth also reiterated their support for Elder Ambassador Garang Deng Aguer amid reports of attempts to place him under arrest.
According to the statement, the youth vowed to continue supporting and protecting Garangdit against what they described as any misuse of power aimed at silencing the communityβs voice.
