A delegation of senior SPLM officials has returned to Juba today after accompanying the newly appointed SPLM Chairperson and Governor of Western Equatoria State, H.E. James Altaib, to Yambio.
The delegation, led by the SPLM Secretary for Political Affairs, Cde. Bol Makueng, including Cde. John Dabi, SPLM Advisor for Political Affairs, Mobilization and Organization and Cde. Gatkuoth Lim, Deputy Secretary for State Affairs. They were tasked by the SPLM Secretary-General, Cde. Prof. Paul Logale Jumi, to es**rt Governor Altaib to his goverment's seat, Yambuo.
Speaking to the press at Juba International Airport, Cde. Bol Makueng said their mission has two important messages:The first message is that now the SPLM is leading Western Equatoria State under the new governor. The second, message is that the people of the state must embrace peace, reconciliation, and unity to rebuild their communities.
He said furthermore, he has conveyed the assurance of H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit, SPLM Chairman, who reaffirmed his commitment never to return the people of South Sudan to war.
According to Makueng, SPLM WES Chairperson, Cde Altaib was warmly welcomed in Western Equatoria.
During his address to the people, the Governor emphasized his commitment to peace and pledged to work inclusively with all groups for the prosperity of the state.
He urged dialogue, reconciliation, and collective effort in pursuit of stability and development.
The delegation also met with leaders of SPLM-IO in Western Equatoria, where both parties expressed unity of purpose.
Cde Makueng noted that the SPLM and SPLM-IO leadership in the state are now working side by side to foster peace and reconciliation.
In addition, the delegation received support from the King of the Azande, who affirmed his dedication to promoting peace and harmony among the people of Western Equatoria.
