Topic: Urgent needs to action for the health of people and the planet:

Health and climate are closely linked and inseparable, and currently the health of billion people is endangered by the climate crisis.
Climate change is not only undermining the health of our planet, but the health of the people all over the world through toxic air pollution, lack of food sovereignty, risk of infectious disease outbreaks, extreme heat, drought, floods and so on.

According to the world health organisation,by 2030 and 2050, climate change is expected to cause approximately 250,000 additional deaths yearly due to malnutrition, malaria, diarrhea and heat stress.

Moreover,by 2030,the direct death costs induced by climate change are estimated to be at range of USD 2 billions to 4 billions a year.
It will worsen also many social and environmental risk factors for mental health.
A world bank study found that, fine particulates from the burning of fossil fuels are among the toxic air pollution with potential to cause asthma, cancer, heart diseases and premature death.

Hence, the science is clear that, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and phasing out fossil fuels and investing in sustainable transport, food and energy solutions will yield improved health through reduced air pollution, healthier diets and more physical activities.

Topic: South Sudan’s Natural Heritage and the Threat of Climate Change

South Sudan is rich in biodiversity and natural resources, with vast wetlands, golden savannas, and dense forests. Its most iconic treasure is the Sudd, one of the largest freshwater wetlands in the world. However, these fragile ecosystems are under siege. Climate change, along with human actions, is slowly destroying them.

Extreme weather is throwing nature’s balance into chaos. Floods drown habitats, and droughts dry up wetlands. The floods from 2019–2023 swallowed huge parts of the Sudd, forcing thousands of people from their homes and wiping out livestock. Rising heat and vanishing water are pushing species like the Nile crocodile, hippos, and migratory birds to the edge of survival.

The constant disruption to people's lives has led to the mass cutting down of trees for survival, turning green land into dust. As water and grass disappear, conflicts erupt. Farmers, herders, and wildlife are all fighting for what little is left. Elephants, driven by thirst, are stumbling into villages, which often leads to tragic outcomes.

Yet there is still hope. With urgent action—planting resilient trees, using smarter farming methods, improving water and waste management, and healing damaged lands—South Sudan can still reclaim its natural heritage from climate change and enhance food sovereignty.

The choice is ours, and time is running out. South Sudan’s treasures—the Sudd, Boma National Park, and the very web of life that supports people and wildlife—are slipping away. Without bold steps now, the loss will be irreversible. The stakes are nothing less than survival.

Topic: Interconnections of Agriculture,Human Health and the Environment:

Agriculture stands as a cornerstone of human civilization providing sustenance, livelihoods and economic prosperity to every society worldwide.
Since then, the cultivation of crops and rearing of livestock shaped humankind greatly.

It has been acknowledged that agriculture is not isolated, but intricately connected with human health and the environment. That means,it can produce nutritious food for human wellbeing, but through deforestation, mechanisation, and use of pesticides it can harm the environment, causing pollution which may impact human health negatively.

Understanding this interconnectedness and trade-off inherited in agriculture, human health and environment can help policy makers, researchers, and practitioners to collaborate on integrated strategies that foster sustainability, resilience and equity by underscoring the imperative of working towards a healthier and more sustainable future.

By supporting interdisciplinary research,we will be able to generate evidence-based solutions knowing that agriculture, human health and environment are inseparable.

Let protect the environment to produce food and stay healthy.

Let embrace sustainability!

Topic: Why not focusing on food sovereignty rather than food security?

Globally, the wealth and freedom of every nation lies in soil, water and air with adoption of certain policies.

As our country has taken and declared a definite turn to boost agriculture,it should be taken as a golden opportunity and best option to adopt the policy of food sovereignty where the means of production such tools, machineries, factories, natural resources and distribution of food systems are owned locally country wide by the inhabitants.

In other words, shifting the mindset from food security where the food systems is globalised is a bad check and ugly superficial intervention simply because food is being imported and humanitarian based which is not sustainable though the food could be available ,safe, accessible and nutritious. The concept of food security is not sustainable excuse me!

With adoption of food sovereignty policy and mindset, the country will maximum its economic gain and political power.

Be reminded that, you eat what you sow and now is the time to say no to inaction ,but action.

With agriculture,we are free!

sovereignty

TOPIC: Climate Change must to be faced with courage and honest.

The first step to fight climate change is to recognised that, humankind is the major culprit inducing it and accountable on massive destruction of our collective home, the mother earth.

Such destruction are deeply rooted in fossil fuels we use to power our homes, vehicles, businesses(industrialization and urbanisation),all of which can release gases into the atmosphere a process known as greenhouse gas emissions. The net result of gases being released into the atmosphere is the warming of the whole world which is termed as "global warming" scientifically.

Due to global warming, the water bodies are rising, icecaps are melting ,coral reefs are dying, aquatic species are extinct due to acidification . Moreover, extreme weather events are practical evidences for everyone to see and feel with various catastrophic impacts to forms of life.

With honesty and courage, solving this problem is not a question of politics and laws, but it's our moral obligations to protect the water we drink, the air we breathe, the soil we plant our plants, the animals and plants we eat for our survival, because the economy itself will collapse if our ecosystem is destroyed.

The good news is that, the solution is not out of reach, but it needs you and I, to plant ☘️ trees because a single tree can absorb one tonne of carbon dioxide in it lifetime,we can change our lifestyle by making counsious choices like reducing the waste, reusing and recycling items.

Remember the change begins with you and I.
Now is the time to have courage to act collectively and support climate change and environmental initiatives instead of waiting for the worst.
