Summary of Presidential Decrees!

President Salva Kiir Mayardit issued number of Decrees effecting Changes in the National Government & SSPDF as hereunder,

1. Beny Gideon Mabor has been Revoked the as Minister of East African Community Affairs and replaced by Gen. Pieng Deng Kuol former Inspector General of Police.

2. Gen. Dau Aturjong Nyuol has been relieved as Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the SSPDF & Gen. Dr. Paul Nang Majok has been reappointed as the new CDF

3. Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin has been relieved as Minister of Transport replaced by Rizik Zachariah Hassan, who had earlier been serving perviously as the Minister of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism.

4. Denay Jock Chaguor, the former Governor of Jonglei State, has been appointed as the Minister of Wildlife conservation & Tourism replacing Rizik Zachariah.

5. Michael Lopuke Lotyam has been relieved from his position as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) and Samuel Yanga Mikaya appointed as a successor....

6. Gen. Dau Aturjong Nyuol, after his removal as Chief of Defence Forces of SSPDF, has been appointed as Technical Advisor in the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs.

7. Dr. Michael Lopuke Lotyam has been reassigned as Technical Advisor in the Ministry of Higher Education.

8. Mary Hillary Wani Pitia has been relieved as Undersecretary in the Ministry of Labour and replaced by Deng Tong Kenjok.

9. Sebit John Mabok has been appointed as Technical Advisor in the Ministry of Interior.

10. Mary Hillary Wani Pitia has been reassigned as Undersecretary in the Ministry of East African Community Affairs.

KENYA PORT AUTHORITY, AMBASSADOR

South Sudan’s Ambassador to Kenya, Amb. Anthony Kon, and the Managing Director of the Kenya Ports Authority, Capt. William Ruto, have discussed ways of reducing costs for South Sudanese traders through more efficient transit services at the ports. Mombasa Port remains a lifeline for South Sudan’s developmental aspirations. Capt. Ruto pledged the Kenya Ports Authority’s continued support in handling South Sudan’s growing cargo volumes.

South Sudan is the second-largest transit market through Mombasa Port after Uganda. However, traders continue to face challenges in clearing their cargo, particularly due to the high cost of clearance. This has forced many South Sudanese traders to abandon their goods at the port. Kon stressed the importance of reducing shipping and clearance costs to enhance competitiveness and support traders

Capt. William Ruto, the Managing Director of the Kenya Ports Authority, explained that the high costs are mainly due to container deposit charges, which vary depending on the risk of returning empty containers, rather than shipping fees. Mombasa Port is the largest seaport in East Africa and a vital economic gateway for the region.
