The County itself is located south west of Upper Nile State, bordering Region 12 of Ethiopia (Gambella Region) from the east, south and western part of the County. The County is inhabitant by the Nuer sub-clan of Eastern Ji-Kany Nuer, which also branch into sub-sections of Cie-Wau, Cie-Chany, Thiang and Maban (Chai) ethnic group.
