Since the killings of Nuer people in Juba, and despite allegations of the use of gas and chemical weapons against them, some people still claim that the Nuer are rebels.
It seems that no matter what suffering the Nuer have endured, there are always those who continue to blame them. In my view, no crime imaginable has been left undone against the Nuer people by the government of Salva Kiir Mayardit.
One day, a Nuer will become President of South Sudan, and Nuer people will walk freely without fear. They will proudly beat their chests and say, 'This is the place we call home; this is what we fought for.'
