Star Shine Media Witnesses Harvest Activities at OKawa Village

Yesterday, Star Shine Media was honored to visit and showcase harvest activities at OKawa Village, where we witnessed remarkable agricultural activities taking place.

Among the farmers are people travelling from Ayilo Two Refugee Settlement to hire hectares of land for cultivation. One of the farms we visited was the Simama Pamoja garden, which covers approximately 5 hectares.

The first 2.5 hectares were affected by a prolonged lack of rainfall, while another 2.5 hectares had already been harvested. During our visit, we joined the team as they harvested the remaining maize.

From what we witnessed, the Simama Pamoja staff followed the necessary stages of land preparation and cultivation, putting proper arrangements in place. However, despite their efforts, the farm was affected by the lack of rainfall.

Nevertheless, the remaining maize crop provides hope and demonstrates the determination of the farmers to continue producing food despite the challenges caused by unpredictable weather conditions.
