Israel has confirmed the killing of Abu Obaida, the longtime spokesman of Hamas’s military wing, the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades, in an airstrike on Gaza City’s Rimal neighborhood.

Abu Obaida, a key figure in Hamas’s communications, had been the face of its military operations for nearly two decades. Israeli officials described the strike as a major symbolic blow to Hamas’s leadership.
