Not only does she make beautiful shoes, but she also helps protect the environment. Instead of throwing away plastic bottles, she recycles them to create something useful.

Akoc Payam in Twic County is proud to have produced five citizens who hold PhD degrees. This achievement shows the strong value the community places on the education and hard work. Despite many challenges, these sons and daughter of Akoc Payam have reached the highest level of academic success.

The five scholars are well respected for their academic achievements and contributions to knowledge. Their names are:

1: Professor Malek Mathiang, Former Justice of court of appeals, South Sudan.
2: Professor Madut Tong Ring
3: Dr. Amira Dau Lueth
4: Dr. Ring Akec Gar
5: Dr. Deng Lual Aguek.

These men and woman have reached the highest level of education through years of dedication, discipline, and sacrifice. Their success is not only personal but also a source of pride for Akoc Payam, Twic County, and Warrap State.

The presence of five PhD holders from one payam send a powerful message to young people. It proves that with commitment and determination, education can open doors and change lives, regardless of where one comes from.

Unified Forces Clash Outside Abyei Box, Killing 14 Soldiers

At least 14 soldiers from the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), including two police officers, were killed in a clash among the Tiger Unit in Athoony near Abyei Box on Monday evening.

The fighting began when a 2nd Lieutenant, Koch Khai, shot and killed Captain Deng Dol, whom he accused of having an affair with his wife. The officer was also killed in the exchange, resulting in hours of gunfire.

According to Lt. Gen. Peter Bawa Jamus, the majority of the casualties were from the Tiger Division, with five others injured. The situation has since calmed, but over 400 former SPLA-IO forces, under Colonel James Gatjiek Koang, deserted their positions, moving north toward the Abyei Administrative Area.

Ongoing investigations into the confrontation are being conducted by both SSPDF and SPLA-IO. Five wounded soldiers are currently receiving treatment at Mayen Abun Hospital, with critical cases referred to Mother Teresa Hospital.

Updates will follow as the situation develops.

There’s a song that truly motivates me—XEN KAC KE NHIALIC by my brother and one of my favorite South Sudanese artists, Aru Debrusilva Adbs (ADBS). His music speaks directly to my soul. Whenever I listen to this track, I feel a renewed sense of purpose, strength, and determination.

This song encourages me to keep pushing forward, no matter the struggles I face. Whether I’m waking up in the morning, studying, or traveling—this is the first song I play. It reminds me that even in the hardest times, we must keep hustling and believing that one day things will get better.

Ring Ring Gum has been appointed as Head Coach together with Angok Mamdit Majok as Assistant Coach for Twic Mayardit Football Team in Juba.

Ring Ghazal is a current Akoc head coach and former Twic Mayardit assistant coach while Agoth Mangokdit is a current Wunrok assistant coach and former Turalei coach

Both Twic Mayardit sons obtained CAF D-License in Football Coaching in 2024 in Juba, South Sudan.

They had been offered the Confederation of African Football (CAF) D-License by South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) and they are officially certified coaches.

The CAF D-License serves as the foundation level for aspiring football coaches. This entry-level certification equips coaches with the fundamental knowledge and skills required to work with amateur players.
