Two Killed in Separate Attacks, Bodies Kept at Juba Funeral Home
At least two individuals, identified as William Yual Agoth (soldier) and Agoth Ateny (civilian), were killed in separate attacks in late March.
According to chairpersons from the Aweil East Community and the Lou Aguer Geng Community, who visited the bodies at the Juba Funeral Home on Monday, the remains will be transported to Aweil after court proceedings are completed and the suspects are formally identified.
Tito Awen Bol, a representative and Chairperson of the Electoral Committee of the Lou Aguer Geng Community Welfare Association, stated that Yual Agoth was killed in Yei, while Agoth Ateny was killed at Stop Dinka prior to the Khor-Kaltan incident last month.
Speaking to the media, Amb. Garang Deng Aguer revealed that the perpetrators behind both killings have reportedly been apprehended and are awaiting trial. He further noted that Yual Agoth, a First Lieutenant, was allegedly killed on the orders of a division commander.
Amb. Deng urged the Aweil community to remain calm as the relevant authorities and community leaders handle the matter.
“We want to urge the people of Aweil to remain calm as we are determined to follow up on the case. We are making the necessary arrangements to transport the bodies, and we will hold funeral prayers here in Juba. We hope the perpetrators will be disclosed on that day,” he said.
Both Yual Agoth and Agoth Ateny hail from the Lou Aguer Geng community in Aweil East County, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.
