Call for urgent dialogues by Petro Malek Makor interim chairperson of Akuar youth union in kuajok
MY PAINFUL MESSAGE TO THE TWIC COMMUNITY ON THE CHIEFTAINCY FIGHT
A CALL FOR PEACE: ONE PEOPLE, ONE BLOOD, ONE TWIC
I am Petro Malek Makor Malek, Interim Youth Chairperson of Akuar Athokbeek in Kuajok. I am a true son of Nyang Aheer, Boma Bulyom, Aweng Payam, Twic County, and a son of the Payöch clan which holds the chieftaincy today.
Our Boma, which was once one, has now been divided into two: Mayiik Ring Ajaang on one side and Ajaang Mangong Chol on the other. Sons of one mother are fighting over one stool.
I write not as a party to the conflict, but as a neutral son who can no longer watch in silence as we tear ourselves apart.
My people, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. THE SHAME OF FIGHTING OVER CHIEFTAINCY MUST STOP NOW.
1. THE STOOL DOES NOT MAKE THE CHIEF, THE PEOPLE DO.
Chieftaincy is service, not a throne to fight for.
2. A HOUSE DIVIDED BY CHIEFTAINCY CANNOT STAND.
We have no people to lose over a chair. Our youth are already being lost in border wars.
3. WHEN ELEPHANTS FIGHT OVER THE STOOL, IT IS THE GRASS THAT SUFFERS.
We are becoming a laughing stock to our neighbors.
I humbly appeal to Hon. Mangok Kom, Commissioner of Twic County, and Paramount Chief Jacob Madhel Lang Juk to call these two groups before Monday brings a bad decision.
LET CUSTOM AND TRUTH DECIDE, NOT FISTS AND DIVISION.
To the Elders of Payöch:
You are the light and the solution. Your silence is heavy.
To the Elders and Youth of Nyang Aheer:
Why are we waiting for others to solve our problems? Youth are meant to protect the community from outside threats, not destroy it from within.
To our Intellectuals at home and in Juba:
Come home. Leave the children a good legacy. Let us not allow others to manipulate us into fighting our brothers and making ourselves weaker.
I call upon you all for DIALOGUE
OUR BLOOD IS THICKER THAN CHIEFTAINCY.
