Water tankers in Juba's Gudelle and other areas suburb stopped delivering water after the City Council set a new, lower price for water. This led to a water shortage in the city, with schools closing and people unable to carry out daily tasks like bathing and cooking. Dr. David Nailo Mayo said the Council's attempt to help consumers unintentionally caused a crisis by upsetting the water suppliers. He suggested the Council either negotiate to restore the original price or offer fuel subsidies to the suppliers to avoid further issues.

Zinedine Zidane has been out of work since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, but has been heavily linked with the Manchester United job in recent weeks after Erik ten Hag's struggles

Manchester United's co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has been encouraged to consider Zinedine Zidane as a potential replacement for the beleaguered manager Erik ten Hag. Despite a dismal start to the season, with only three wins in their first 10 matches across all competitions, Ratcliffe has chosen to stand by Ten Hag for the time being.

However, if the team's poor performance persists, it's likely that Ratcliffe will be on the hunt for a new manager. Zidane, who guided Real Madrid to two La Liga titles and three Champions League victories, could be a strong contender.

Yet, Emmanuel Petit, Zidane's former teammate from France, suggests that Ratcliffe would need to provide assurances regarding transfers and job security to entice Zidane. "I'm not sure that he speaks very good English as well. And communication is very important in the dressing room. Honestly, I know a little bit, Zizou [Zidane], and he needs to get guarantees if he wants to sign over there in Manchester United," Petit told the Manchester Evening News.

"At the moment, the environment at Manchester United for years has not been good. The stability of the bench, the level of the players as well, the expectation of the club is not the same that it used to be. United is still a huge club, but not on the pitch anymore."

"And Zizou is very conscious and very careful about that, the quality of the players. At the moment, when you look at the team, I'm not convinced at all about the level of some players. If he takes the job at Manchester United, that means he's got solutions."

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum has said that the pipe line transporting South Sudanโ€™s crude oil via Sudan has been repaired and is operational.

Dr Chol Deng Thon confirmed this upon his visit to Port Sudan refinery and the oil pumping stations on Sunday.

Thon said that the purpose of the visit was to assess the pumping levels and ensure that operations at Station No. 6 of the crude oil pipeline are proceeding smoothly.

Citing the maintenance company, the oil official said the pipeline is now fully operational and ready to resume oil transportation.

According to Sudanโ€™s Minister of Energy and Petroleum Muhyiddin Al-Naeem, his government had officially informed South Sudan of the completed maintenance.

He assured that Sudan is prepared to receive crude oil and that the pumping process could restart shortly.

The pipeline had been out of operation due to damages caused by sabotage during the conflict April 2023.

In response, South Sudan had considered alternative routes for transporting its crude oil, including a potential pipeline through Ethiopia to Djibouti on the Red Sea.

South Sudan has been faced with rapid economic downturn after Sudanโ€™s oil pipeline was damaged in February this year amid the war in the neighboring country.

Since then, South Sudan currency continued to weaken against the dollar as oil represented 98 percent of the countryโ€™s revenue.
