South Sudan Daily Oil Production Rises to 174,000 Barrels

The Ministry of Petroleum has announced a significant increase in South Sudan's crude oil production, with daily output now reaching 174,000 barrels, up from a previous estimate of 100,000 barrels per day.

Speaking during a press conference in Juba, Petroleum Ministry Undersecretary Santino Ayuel Longar said the increase comes despite the natural decline of oil fields in Blocks 1 and 4, which lose approximately 25% of production annually.

Longar attributed the growth to residual oil recovery studies, new drilling activities, field development projects, and infrastructure upgrades, which have added more than 6,100 barrels per day to national production.

Meanwhile, Lual Chol Dak, Director General of the Petroleum Authority, said South Sudan currently has six operational oil blocks contributing to the country's output.

According to Lual Chol Dak:

* Dar Petroleum Operating Company operates Blocks 3 and 7 in Palouch.
* Nile-Pet produces about 2,000 barrels per day.
* Greater Pioneer Operating Company operates Blocks 1, 2, and 4 in Unity State, producing approximately 60,000 barrels per day.
* Sudd Petroleum Operating Company produces around 14,000 barrels per day from the Tharjiath Oil Field.

Officials say efforts are ongoing to further increase production and boost government revenues from the oil sector.
