The newly appointed Caretaker Chief Administrator of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA), H.E. Joseph Boyoi Ngare, was officially welcomed today in Pibor town by a large and enthusiastic crowd of citizens, the former Caretaker Chief Administrator, senior political leaders of the GPAA, and former government officials.
In his remarks at the welcoming ceremony, the former Caretaker Chief Administrator, Hon. Gola Boyoi Gola, congratulated the newly appointed Caretaker Chief Administrator and applauded His Excellency the President, Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, for appointing the right person at the right time.
Hon. Gola noted that the decision to dissolve the government is a guarantee and a prerequisite, and it is part of the process that will lead the country to the forthcoming elections. He further assured the Caretaker Chief Administrator that the people of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area will work with and support him in the same way they supported him during his tenure.
In his speech, H.E. Joseph Boyoi Ngare, the Caretaker Chief Administrator, expressed profound gratitude to the President, H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, for the trust and confidence placed in him.
He congratulated His Excellency the President for the decisions and leadership that have enabled our country to move toward elections, underscoring that this is an important process which provides our people with the opportunity to exercise their long-awaited constitutional right and to choose their leaders freely and transparently.
"For many years, these fundamental rights have been disrupted by unnecessary, meaningless, and destructive conflicts," he emphasized.
H.E. Joseph Boyoi reminded the people that elections are their constitutional right and urged all citizens to exercise that right peacefully, responsibly, and without violence, while calling on everyone to reject violence in all its forms.
He further clarified his own position, stating: "I am neither permitted to contest in the forthcoming elections nor to use the powers and authority of my office to support, favor, or facilitate any candidate."
He called upon the elders, political leaders, youth, women, religious leaders, and the entire community to play their respective roles in maintaining peace and stability throughout this important period.
