APPEAL FOR URGENT SUPPORT

Dear Abyei Community Worldwide,

We are urgently appealing for your support for our brother Chol Juac Chol, who is currently in India preparing for a kidney transplant. He is accompanied by his brother, who is the donor, and a cousin as caregiver.

The funds contributed earlier by the community and ASAA were used to cover travel and initial medical processes. They now remain with only 3,000 USD, while the doctors require 5,000 USD for the operation alone excluding feeding, accommodation, and other related needs.

We therefore call upon all Abyei sons and daughters across the world, our business community, professionals, and friends to come together and help save our brother’s life. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference.

BREAKING: President Salva Kiir Mayardit has appointed Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, Vice President for the Economic Cluster, as Chairperson of the reconstituted High-Level Committee for Dialogue, Expedition, and Follow-Up on the Final Status of Abyei.

Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel will be deputized by Pieng Deng Majook, Minister of East African Community Affairs, while the Minister of Presidential Affairs and Martin Otimoya will serve as Rapporteurs. Other senior government officials and Abyei’s dignitaries have also been appointed as members.

The reconstituted committee is mandated to engage with the Government of Sudan and report directly to the President on the progress and outcomes concerning Abyei’s final status.

The committee is expected to enhance dialogue mechanisms and fast-track the resolution process on the long-standing issue of Abyei between South Sudan and Sudan.
