🕊️ A Warm Message to Our Beloved People of Maiwut County
To Cie Waw, Cie Chaany, Mathiäng, Oppo, and every son and daughter who once called Maiwut home wherever you may be now:
It has been too long. For years, our land felt empty, our paths scattered, and many of you our youth, our women, our elders had to leave the homes you love, seeking safety, hope, and a future elsewhere because things were not right here.
There was no one to stand for you, no one to protect our people, and no one to build our home together. We know the pain of leaving. We know the ache of missing the land that raised you.
But today, the story changes.
A new Commissioner Beach Banang has come to Maiwut a man who does not see titles, but sees people. A leader who loves every one of you equally: whether you are from Cie Waw or Cie Chaany, Mathiäng or Oppo, whether you stayed or you had to go. He does not rule over you he walks among you. He knows our struggles, he hears our prayers, and his first act as your leader is this: he calls you home.
He says: “The doors of Maiwut are open wide. The land you left has not forgotten you. The peace you longed for is being built, and it cannot be complete without you.”
From this day forward, we declare:
👉Peace has returned — no more fear, no more division, no more reason to run.
👉 Justice will be for all — elders are respected, women are protected, youth are given a future.
👉 Prosperity is coming — our fields will grow, our markets will thrive, our children will learn and grow right here at home.
👉 Unity is our strength — Cie Waw, Cie Chaany, Mathiäng, Oppo — we are one people, one land, one destiny.
The mistakes of the past are gone. The leadership that failed you is gone. A new day has dawned, and it is bright because this time, your leader loves you, serves you, and builds for you.
Come back, our people. Come back to the land that loves you. Come back to your families, your communities, your heritage. Come back and help us build the Maiwut we all dreamed of a home of peace, plenty, and pride, where no one has to leave ever again.
The Commissioner is waiting. The people are waiting. Maiwut is calling you home.
