During the briefing, Ayen reported that some seats allocated to the SPLM party in the Council have been vacant following the demise of some members, with others critically ill.

She also briefed the Head of State on the continued delay in the release of an environmental audit of oil-producing regions, necessary to be done in order to address the health conditions of the locals.

Deputy Speaker Ayen further said that the briefing was crucial in finding solutions to key underlying issues confronting the performance of the legislative body.

Following the report, the president directed the SPLM leadership in the Council to work closely with the Secretary General to address the current challenges and move forward in articulating issues of national importance throughout their sessions as the country gears up for the general elections slated for next year.
