PLU Official Position on NUM/A Formation.

Declaration of National Uprising Movement/Army by Gen. Wilson Deng is a Wrong decision made by the right person at the wrong time.

Fighting for Independence should not be synonymous with recurring armed conflict afterwards. Let's reject violence and choose democratic paths, especially if its availed for us to choose from. Elections are declared for December 2026-lets dialogue and diplomacy takes centre stage and prepare for peaceful process.

Arms struggles only create further divisions and hinder progress towards a united and peaceful nation and NUM/A Formation is not going to do the opposite. Forming a Rebel movement instead of a political party is totally wrong decision at the wrong time. We cannot claim true independence when we continue to resort to arms struggles in resolving conflicts. Let's choose a different path-ballots.

PLU foundations are anchored on liberal values and open mindedness. We call a spade a spade regardless of the status and that is the essence of critizing the government base on their actions. Its the same to arm rebellions-we cannot keep quite when we know you are wrong just because you are in opposition.

Peaceful resistance and non-violent movements have proven to be more effective in bringing about lasting change. Let's learn from history. Arms struggles may have been a means to an end, but it's time to leave violence behind and build a peaceful and sustainable future through constitutionally recognize process-Dec 2026 elections.

As PLU, we are saying let's not romanticize arms struggles and instead acknowledge the negative impact it has on society. It's time to choose peace over violence. Gen. Wilson Deng and his group should have waited atleast to react if needs be, only after 2026 elections.

"It's not about who is chosen to occupy which positions, but rather or whether the answers to the questions leading to dismissals and appointments are certainly provided.

For the public, it's about service delivery, for the SPLM led Gov't, its obviously self saving and that is where criticism usually poured in from raging and desperate civil populace.

May our people stop hopping for miracles from the same SPLM led Gov't, but instead prepare to act decisively at the ballots and show their might by voting out the SPLM Gov't"

Freedom after 20 years in Ugandan Prison.

A South Sudanese national, Joseph Yen Magot, has been released from a Ugandan prison after spending two decades behind bars over a case dating back to 2003, before the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and South Sudan’s independence.

Joseph was accused of killing of five soldiers from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) in Suk Agoro in 2003. A charge he denies. At the time, he was handed over to the Ugandan authorities by the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) and later tried and sentenced to life imprisonment by a Ugandan court.

He was held at Luzira Maximum Security Prison as of 2015 before being transferred to Arua Prison, where he was released on Tuesday after serving 20 years in custody.

Joseph’s imprisonment spanned major political changes in the region, including the end of Sudan’s civil war and the independence of South Sudan in 2011. His release brings to a close one of the long-running cases involving South Sudanese nationals detained in neighboring countries during the war years.

Details surrounding the terms of his release and his next steps were not immediately available by the time of publication.
