ππππ, ππππ 1, 2026βH.E Maj Gen. Madhang Majok Meen, the Governor of Lakes State, met with the President of the Republic of South Sudan, H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit, to brief him on the current situation in Lakes State.
During the meeting, the Governor presented a report on the challenges affecting the people of Lakes State and updated the President on ongoing efforts to promote lasting peace across the state. He highlighted peace initiatives focused on community reconciliation, security and sustainable development as key pillars for long-term stability.
The Governor also briefed the President on the implementation of the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (RTGoNU) in Lakes State and the progress being made in strengthening governance and service delivery.
In addition, the Governor informed the President on electoral preparations in the state, noting that local communities are prepared and ready to participate in the December 2026 elections.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit welcomed the update and assured the Governor of his full support in addressing the challenges facing the state and advancing peace and development initiatives for the benefit of the people of Lakes State.
