‎My husband, who only eats when the lights are off, wasn’t at the dining table. The moment I turned the lights on, the dining room was empty. The food was gone. And on the table, something crawled, long and slimy, like an earthworm.

‎I staggered backward, ready to run. Out of fear, I shouted, “Honey! Where are you?”

‎To my surprise, he walked calmly out of the kitchen, smiling.
‎“You look scared. What’s wrong?” he asked, stepping closer.

‎“Don’t come near me! You’re making me scared. I don’t understand you anymore!”

‎He raised his brows.
‎“How? What do you mean?”

‎“Stop pretending! The lights were off, you sat here to eat. But when I turned them on, you were gone! I only saw something crawling on the table!”

‎ He walked to the table, pretending to look shocked.

‎“Where is it then?”

‎I turned and froze. The table was clean. We even checked under it, nothing.

‎“Honey, relax,” he said softly. “There’s nothing. I finished eating and kept the plate. Maybe I just ate too fast. The food was delicious. Stop imagining things.”

‎He pulled me into his arms. Tears rolled down my cheeks, and I didn’t even know why.

‎That night, after a brief discussion, he whispered, “Honey, it’s bedtime.”

‎“You go,” I said, pretending to watch a movie. He kissed my forehead and went to bed.

‎But I just stared at the screen, my mind far away. Is my husband for real? What do I do? Should I leave? But my marriage isn’t even months old… what would people say? Maybe this whole thing is nothing serious. Maybe I’m the one making it a big deal.

‎After a long silence, I decided I would share my worries with his close friend, our neighbor. Maybe he would have something to say.

‎The next morning, before work, I met him and explained everything. His face went pale.

‎“That’s strange… I’ve known your husband for years. I can’t believe this. You know what, tonight, when he eats, text me. I’ll come over. If it’s true, then I’ll advise you to involve your family, and then something must be done urgently."

‎I nodded, relieved. But I never knew he was already aware and part of something darker with my husband.

‎That evening, I came home early, not feeling well. Inside, I heard my husband rush back, he had forgotten something. Before he got to the door, our neighbor called him. They didn’t know I was home. I stood by the window, listening.

‎“I told you… I don’t trust your wife. I knew one day she would interrupt. Imagine what she did last night.” our neighbour said.

‎“How did you know?” my husband asked.

‎“She told me everything this morning.”

‎My husband’s face froze in surprise.

Then our neighbor leaned closer and whispered, “Do the needful… before it’s too late.”

‎My husband replied, “She’s carrying my child.”

‎And our neighbor said, “So what are you waiting for?”

‎Standing by the window, tears filled my eyes. I was confused and scared. I couldn’t hold it anymore, and I didn’t even realize when I shouted: “Oh my God!”

‎Then slowly, they turned toward the window

My Husband Refuses to Eat Unless the Lights are Off

Episode 1

The first time my husband refused to eat with the lights on, I thought it was nothing. Maybe he just didn’t like being watched.

I thought I knew everything about him, his past, his present. But there was one thing I never knew about him… his eating in the dark.

Slowly, I began to notice something strange.
Every time I served food, he would quietly walk to the switch... and turn it off.

After eating, he would switch the lights back on… and act as if nothing ever happened.

Sometimes, as he ate in the darkness, I heard noises that made me shiver.
Spoons scraping too hard… breathing that wasn’t his… sounds I couldn’t explain.

One evening, I asked:
“Honey… why do you prefer eating in the dark?”

He leaned closer and said, “Let’s not talk about it. Just leave the lights off, okay?”

“But eating in darkness, I...”
Before I could finish, he cut me off.

"You worry too much. Now tell me… when are we expecting our first child?”

I was just a month pregnant. The thought of becoming a mother softened me. I touched my tummy and smiled, forgetting everything as we spent the evening talking about names, plans, and the future.

And just like that… the question faded.

But his eating habit never stopped. Always darkness… always those chilling sounds.

So one night, I made up my mind.
If I turned on the lights while he was eating, maybe then I would finally know the truth.

I stood up, walked slowly to the switch. My hand trembled as I reached for it.

Then his voice, low, heavy, almost shaking:
“Don’t turn the lights on. Don't try it.”

But I couldn’t stop myself.
I had endured enough. I needed to see.

Then I flipped the switch on.
I was shocked.

Every Midnight, My Neighbour Stands at My Door Wearing a White Gown

Episode 1

The first night I saw my neighbour at my door wearing a white gown, I thought she was just reading the sticker I had placed there.

I never knew it was something more.

I was a new tenant. People said the last tenant didn’t even last a month before leaving, but I didn’t care to ask why.

I had just one neighbour, a beautiful young woman. Very fair, smooth skin, long hair. She was jovial, always smiling. Sometimes she even gave me food when I came home late from work.

But close to midnight, I began to hear faint footsteps outside my door. Slow. Careful. Deliberate.
I never checked. I always felt too lazy to get up.

One evening after work, I asked her, “Do you hear footsteps at night?”

“Footsteps?” she repeated.
I nodded slowly. “Yes...”

She laughed. “We’re only two in this compound. Who would be walking around at night?”

I sighed. “Maybe the movies I watch before bed are messing with me.”

She laughed again. “This place is the safest. Even if you leave your door open, nothing will happen.”

I forced a smile and went inside. But deep down, something told me the footsteps were real.

That night I tried to stay awake to be sure, but I always drifted off before midnight.

Every morning as I stepped out for work, I’d hear her voice from inside her room: “Have a nice day,” almost as if she was watching me.

But one night, I woke up, pressed to use the bathroom and then I heard it again. Footsteps.

I froze. The footsteps stopped.

Slowly, I walked to my window and peeked.

There she was my neighbour. Standing at my doorstep.

Her long white gown glowed faintly under the moonlight. She didn’t knock. She didn’t move. She just stood there, still as a statue, staring at my door.

I thought she was reading the sticker. But it was taking too long. Was she trying to knock?

“Hello, neighbour,” I called softly. “Are you okay? Should I open the door?”

No answer.

I raised my voice. “Hello, beautiful?”

Silence. She didn’t turn. She didn’t move.

My heart began to race. My palms were sweating.

I stood still, thinking. Then I decided to open the door and find out.
Each step toward it felt heavier.
I took a deep breath.

Just as my hand touched the handle

The lights in my room went off.

Juba Teaching Hospital in the brink of Collapse due to of Medical supply Shortage, Absence Doctors on duty and therefore Need Quick Intervention

By; John Mathuc Ayok Nyok,
Date: September 2, 2025

This comprehensive article highlights some critical Challenges facing Juba Teaching Hospital and some other areas and proposed solutions to reduce further suffering.

In recent days and weeks, there has been news circulating on different social media platforms about death cases and other incidents which always happen in Juba Teaching Hospital. This follow recent passing on of the (most respected) Chair lady of Miss Greater Bahr El Gazal Beauty Peagon late Akot Anyar (Tonjdit daughter and Married to Aweil East) and many others in Juba Teaching Hospital.
This situation is deteriorating over time and time again.

I personally reflect back to my home area of Gogrial, I assumed that this situation is similar and almost to the rest of the nation. Just giving an example, in Gogrialda, a snake can bite a person in Pakal of Aguok or in Akon north area. In situation where there is no excess road from those places, a person can either die before being rush to Aweil East, Mayen Abun or Kuajok for mediation (since there is no nearly PHCC) or no drugs and doctors to handle such cases if there is PHCU. This also apply to complicated pregnancy in such places and others. There is no PHCC facility in all this places that may have enough drugs and medicines due to poor supply and some put blame on clinical officers and nurses of taking some important drugs and medicines including reagents to private clinics. We are experiencing health crisis ever with some good number of foreign doctors fleeing Sudan conflicts and South Sudanese doctors being contracted by private hospitals and organizations.

Similarly, in Juba Teaching Hospital, a lot of similar incidents take place. there has been a report of case where oxygen failure killed a patient who was in critical condition. The cause of oxygen failure was due to public power interruption over some technical problems. I remember in 2023, there was an accident involved certain female musician overnight in Juba. That event was heartbreaking where she was rushed to JTH at night while in critical condition and later failed to get quick medical intervention where she died morning later due to the fact that there were no doctors on duty. This is happening in many places like Wau and many others.

It happens to the extent that in Juba, many people are being advice not to take their pregnant woman to JTH for safe delivery. Instead they're being directed to seek safe medical attention abroad or in private own facility in Juba. This is due to the fact that specialists spend less time in Juba Teaching Hospital and much much of their time in Private own hospital like Queen specialist hospital, Promise Hospital and Nile Specialist Clinic.

Before our leaders talking about building hundreds of hospitals, they should first know and solve the existing challenges facing health care instead of pouring benzene into fire 🔥 in an attempt to stop burning. should start her duties in fixing this health crisis rather than putting her much and bold ambition in things beyond her capacity, that will not have quick impact.

To solve this and so many other pressing health issues in Juba Teaching Hospital, here some attempt to solve some hospitals and health care challenges at large in Juba and beyond;

1. Increase and timely payment of hospital workers's salary and allowances.

2. Recruitment of qualified Doctors and nurses.

3. Penalty of medical and drugs thefts
4. Timely Supply of Drugs and Medicines.

5. Provisions of mobility to hospital staff and patients.

Looks, how simple it's to solve them just quickly!
