The Government of Mayom County wishes to inform the general public about an incident that occurred yesterday at 3:40 PM in Mawut, Abiemnom County. The details are as follows:
A group of cattle keepers from Mayom County, while herding their cattle towards their camp in the evening, fell into a serious ambush laid by Brig. Gen. Garang Lual, Commander of Biemkat Garrison of the 3rd Infantry Division, in coordination with Abiemnom County youths. As a result of the ambush, over 300 heads of cattle were raided. The clash led to the deaths of four individuals from Abiemnom County, including two soldiers affiliated with Gen. Garang Lual.
Upon returning to Abiemnom County Headquarters, local authorities detained approximately 25 children, including 18 girls who had traveled to the area to sell milk.
The Commissioner of Mayom County has been in constant communication with his counterpart from Abiemnom County to restore peace and order. The Commissioner of Abiemnom acknowledged the situation and took steps to recover some of the stolen cattle and secure the release of the detained children. As of this morning, cattle keepers from Mayom County entered Abiemnom County and successfully retrieved a portion of the stolen livestock as well as the 18 detained children.
In response to the escalating tensions, the Commissioner of Mayom County directed the Brigade 11 Commander of the 4th Infantry Division to intervene and separate the youths from both counties who were involved in the conflict. The intervention was successful, and both groups have since returned to their respective areas. As of now, the situation has stabilized.
The Government of Mayom County remains committed to maintaining peace and fostering harmonious relations with its neighboring counties. Further measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
