The Government of Mayom County wishes to inform the general public about an incident that occurred yesterday at 3:40 PM in Mawut, Abiemnom County. The details are as follows:

A group of cattle keepers from Mayom County, while herding their cattle towards their camp in the evening, fell into a serious ambush laid by Brig. Gen. Garang Lual, Commander of Biemkat Garrison of the 3rd Infantry Division, in coordination with Abiemnom County youths. As a result of the ambush, over 300 heads of cattle were raided. The clash led to the deaths of four individuals from Abiemnom County, including two soldiers affiliated with Gen. Garang Lual.

Upon returning to Abiemnom County Headquarters, local authorities detained approximately 25 children, including 18 girls who had traveled to the area to sell milk.

The Commissioner of Mayom County has been in constant communication with his counterpart from Abiemnom County to restore peace and order. The Commissioner of Abiemnom acknowledged the situation and took steps to recover some of the stolen cattle and secure the release of the detained children. As of this morning, cattle keepers from Mayom County entered Abiemnom County and successfully retrieved a portion of the stolen livestock as well as the 18 detained children.

In response to the escalating tensions, the Commissioner of Mayom County directed the Brigade 11 Commander of the 4th Infantry Division to intervene and separate the youths from both counties who were involved in the conflict. The intervention was successful, and both groups have since returned to their respective areas. As of now, the situation has stabilized.

The Government of Mayom County remains committed to maintaining peace and fostering harmonious relations with its neighboring counties. Further measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

South Sudanese Protest in London Against Cluster Bomb Attacks on Civilians

South Sudanese citizens across Europe gathered in London to protest against the killing of civilians in Upper Nile and parts of Jonglei State. The demonstrators condemned the use of cluster bombs by the regime in Juba, allegedly with the support of the Uganda People's Defense Forces (UPDF) through their air force.

Protesters are calling on the international community to hold President Salva Kiir and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity. They demand urgent action to stop the targeting of civilians and ensure justice for the victims.

🚨 BREAKING: Armed Nuer Militia Raids Cattle in Twic County 🚨

At around 1:00 AM, suspected armed Nuer militia from Mayom County, Unity State, raided cattle in Akuac village, Ayien Amuol Boma, Turalei Payam, Twic County, Warrap State.

Titweng forces are currently engaged in clashes with the raiders in Bulthii, and gunfire is still being heard in the area. The situation remains tense.

Tragically, four Twic Mayardit youth have lost their lives in Akong.

DR Riek Machar has been a dominant figure in South Sudanese politics for decades, known for his strategic maneuvering and resilience in political and military conflicts.

Battled Dr. John Garang & Bashir: In the early 1990s, Machar split from the SPLM/A under John Garang, aligning at times with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir before later rejoining the SPLM.

Battled Salva Kiir & Museveni: Machar has been the main rival of President Salva Kiir, with their power struggles leading to civil war. Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni backed Kiir militarily, but Machar survived and returned to politics multiple times.

Battled Taban Deng G*i: Taban, once Machar’s ally, betrayed him by taking his VP position in 2016. However, when Machar regained his role as First Vice President in 2020, Taban was politically sidelined and lost much of his influence in the Nuer community.
