54 nations. 1.4 billion people. Zero permanent seats on the UN Security Council.
This isn't just an oversight—it’s a structural inequity born of a post-1945 era that no longer exists.

As IGAD's permanent representative highlighted at the UN General Assembly, the continued marginalization of Africa undermines the very principles of sovereign equality and inclusive multilateralism.

True decolonization of global governance means giving Africa a permanent seat at the table.

It is time for a Council that reflects the reality of the 21st century.
