BREAKING NEWS: Intelligence Intercept Reveals SPLM-IO Foreign Alliance Strategy
March 10, 2026
JUBA โ New intelligence intercepts have revealed what appears to be a coordinated effort by the Sudan Peopleโs Liberation MovementโIn Opposition (SPLM-IO) to expand its political and military influence through a network of foreign alliances involving Sudan, the United States, and potentially Iran.
According to the intercepted communications, senior SPLM-IO security official Gen. Yiey Dak Wie acknowledged what he described as operational assistance from Sudanese actors. The communication reportedly praised the Sudanese government for โgreater worksโ carried out in support of the movementโs security operations.
Lobbying Efforts in Washington
At the same time, senior SPLM-IO political leader Oyet Nathaniel Pierino is currently in the United States, where he is reportedly engaged in lobbying efforts aimed at gaining political support and diplomatic engagement from Washington.
Translated Voice: Gen. Yie Dak, Director of Security, SPLA-IO
Thank you, Gen. Ali, for your continued support. Please rest assured that the assistance you have provided will never be forgotten.
On the front lines of our movement, we are currently facing significant challenges. Government forces have captured all our bases in the Lou-Nuer areas, which form the backbone of our bases and operations. Our forces suffered a severe defeat due to a shortage of ammunition. As a result, the SSPDF now controls the Sobat Shore, making it difficult to send any potential reinforcements to your country to receive the support you might extend to us.
Regarding Dr. Riek Macharโs status, I personally do not believe the government will release him anytime soon, as long as IO forces do not pose a serious threat to Juba.
On the Abyei issue, if given the opportunity to visit Khartoum, I would share my perspective. I believe my input could contribute to a final decision on Abyeiโs status, one that would serve the interests of the people of Sudan.
Concerning oil, gas, and minerals, our movement intends to align with your nationโs interests. Your companies would be given priority in all contracts.
Finally, on international relations with the United States, I am aware that your nation has greater experience in diplomacy. However, the IO movement is currently engaging with the American government, and we could help further strengthen your ties with them should you wish us to assist in this matter.
