Happy 16th May in honour of the late Maj. Kerubino Kuanyin Bol as a father of South Sudan.

On this historic day in 1983, he fired the first bullet that ignited the SPLA/M liberation struggle and led the famous 105 Battalion with courage and determination. 🫔

As we remember his sacrifice and the contributions of his fellow comrades who gave everything for the freedom and dignity of our people, many young South Sudanese today also reflect with pain and frustration on the hardships citizens continue to endure in the country their fathers fought so hard to liberate.

His legacy, sacrifice, and vision for a better South Sudan must never be forgotten.

A man reportedly dug up his late sister’s gr@ve and brought her skĀ£lĀ£ton to a bank after officials allegedly insisted that the account holder must appear in person before money could be withdrawn.

The incident happened at the Maliposi branch of Odisha Grameen Bank in Patana block of Keonjhar district, India. The man was identified as Jeetu Munda, 50, from Dianali village.

According to reports, Jeetu had been trying to withdraw ₹20,000 from the bank account of his elder sister, Kalra Munda, 56, who reportedly d!Ā£d on January 26, 2026.

Jeetu claimed he visited the bank several times but was repeatedly told to bring the account holder in person before the money could be released.

Despite informing officials that his sister had Di£d, he alleged that they refused to listen.

Frustrated and unaware of the proper legal procedure, Jeetu reportedly dug up his sister’s grave and brought her skeleton to the bank as proof of her death.

Speaking to reporters, he said: ā€œI have run several times to the bank, and the people there told me to bring the account holder to withdraw money deposited in her name. Though I told them that she had diĀ£d, they did not listen to me and insisted on bringing her to the bank. Therefore, out of frustration, I dug the grave and brought out her skeleton as proof of her dĀ£ath.ā€

Police from Patana Police Station later arrived at the scene after being informed of the situation.

The officer in charge, Kiran Prasad Sahu, described Jeetu as an illiterate tribal man who was not aware of legal terms such as nominee or legal heir.

Sahu also faulted the bank officials for allegedly failing to properly explain the withdrawal process for funds belonging to a deceased person.

Jeetu was later seen speaking with police officers in front of the bank. Authorities reportedly promised to facilitate the withdrawal of the funds through the proper legal procedure.

After the matter was resolved, the skeleton was taken back and reburied at the graveyard in the presence of the police.

The Clock of Life: Animal Longevity Decoded

Animal lifespans are a masterclass in evolutionary trade-offs. Generally, larger animals with slower metabolisms live longer, but nature always provides fascinating exceptions. Here is the 2026 guide to how long these species typically reign in their natural habitats.

• The Titans of Time: Tortoises remain the gold standard for longevity, with some individuals like "Jonathan" reaching over 190 years. In the water, the Greenland Shark defies aging entirely, with some estimated to live over 400 years.

• The High-Speed Birds: While the tiny Hummingbird burns brightly and fast (3–5 years), Parrots and Albatrosses can outlive many humans, often reaching 60 to 80 years through slow reproduction and high intelligence.

• The Mammalian Paradox: Elephants and Humans are among the few mammals that live past 60. Interestingly, most mammals have a "heartbeat limit"—smaller animals with rapid heartbeats (like mice) use up their "allotted" beats much faster than the slow-pulsing giants.

- Quality vs. Quantity. Whether it's the frantic five years of a hummingbird or the two-century journey of a tortoise, every lifespan is perfectly tuned to the animal's role in the ecosystem.

Does knowing an animal can live for over a century change how you view its conservation?

SPLM prepares for 43rd anniversary celebration with live performances from Bro Winner and many other guests artists

The Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) is set to celebrate its 43rd anniversary at the Dr. John Garang Mausoleum on May 16th. The event will mark the 43rd anniversary of the ruling party and will be attended by senior SPLM members, including President Salva Kiir.

Today, a group of artists, including Bro Winner and DJ Cent, met with the Secretary General at the SPLM Secretariat to discuss further details regarding the upcoming event. Bro Winner, alongside other prominent artists, has been tasked with mobilizing young people and the wider artistic community to attend the celebration.

According to SPLM Secretary General, Dr. Akol Paul Kordit, the event is specifically organized to honor hardworking young South Sudanese and to bridge the gap between the youth and senior government officials.

"As the SPLM Secretary General, I want to ensure that the widening gap between young people and the leadership is closed. This event will mark the beginning of that vision," Dr. Akol assured.

He acknowledged the dedication of young South Sudanese and encouraged them to turn up on the day, share the special moment with His Excellency the President, and dance alongside the country's elders.

was a desperate man. He'd heard whispers about the Illuminati, an organization rumored to grant unimaginable wealth and power to those who joined. With his savings dwindling and his future uncertain, he took a drastic step.

One evening, Kheed received a mysterious letter inviting him to a secret meeting. The message read: "Bring proof of your commitment." Thinking he'd finally found his ticket to fortune, Kheed shaved his prized locks – a symbol of his identity – and presented them as an offering.

The "Illuminati representative" was impressed, or so it seemed. "Your sacrifice won't go unnoticed," he promised, handing Kheed a fake certificate and disappearing with his hair.

Weeks passed. No riches. No power. Just regret and a bald head. Kheed realized he'd been scammed. The Illuminati? Probably never existed in the first place.

Now, Kheed's rocking a sleek new look 🫤

School plays a big role in shaping us. It's not just about academics – it's where we learn social skills, discover passions, and build relationships. For many, it's a safe space to explore and grow.

In a place like South Sudan, where access to education can be limited, schools can be a game-changer for kids and communities.
What do you think about the role of education in shaping South Sudan's future?
