The Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State, Justin Joseph Marona, has urged newly appointed government officials to remain resilient and innovative as they take office during a period of economic hardship.

Speaking on Wednesday at a swearing-in ceremony held at the state secretariat, Marona called on the officials to prioritize the needs of citizens above political affiliations. He emphasized that public service must be driven by a strong commitment to improving livelihoods across the state.

Marona further encouraged the officials to adopt proactive approaches within their respective ministries and to maintain regular engagement with grassroots communities. He noted that direct interaction with citizens is essential for understanding local challenges and delivering effective, people-centered solutions.

Earlier this month, President Salva Kiir Mayardit carried out a government reshuffle that led to the appointment of several key officials in Western Equatoria State. The changes included new leadership in the ministries of finance and planning, labor and public service, and information and communication.

The newly sworn-in officials also include county commissioners for Nzara, Mvolo, and Nagero, along with chairpersons and deputies of various state independent commissions.

Marona reminded the officials that their performance will ultimately be judged by their ability to serve the people effectively and contribute to the development of Western Equatoria despite ongoing economic challenges.

Kiir Reviews Infrastructure Progress, Orders Acceleration of Key Road Projects

Salva Kiir Mayardit has directed the ускорation of major road construction projects across the country following a high-level meeting on national infrastructure development.

The President met with Taban Deng G*i, who also chairs the Infrastructure Cluster, to review progress on ongoing projects and discuss challenges affecting implementation. The meeting was attended by Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs, Tut Gatluak Manime.

During the briefing, Vice President Taban outlined key developments in the road sector, highlighting the Pagak–Maiwut–Mathiang and Paloch corridors.

He noted that feasibility studies for these projects are at advanced stages, with construction expected to begin once procedural requirements are finalized.

The Vice President also detailed progress in the Equatoria region, citing major road links such as Juba–Lobonok, Juba–Yei–Kaya, and Maridi as part of broader efforts to improve regional connectivity and ease movement of goods and people.

In the Bahr el Ghazal region, several road projects are currently underway through partnerships between the government and private contractors.

Taban indicated that additional direction is needed to guide the next phase of implementation, while preparations are ongoing for new projects including the Wau–Raja and Burumadina roads.

Beyond infrastructure, the Vice President raised concerns over the need to revitalize the Agricultural Bank, stressing that improved access to financing could boost agricultural production and help stabilize the economy.

President Kiir emphasized that infrastructure development remains central to economic growth, national unity, and service delivery.

He instructed the Infrastructure Cluster to strengthen coordination with relevant institutions and fast-track the implementation of priority projects.

The President further called for greater efficiency within the cluster to ensure it meets its mandate, reaffirming the government’s commitment to long-term development and stability in South Sudan.

The Governor of Lakes State and interim chairperson of the SPLM, Cde. Madhang Majok a meeting this morning with SPLM party executive members in Cueibet County.

During the meeting, Cde. Majok expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the party cadres for their resilience and commitment to advancing party activities in the county. He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with them to strengthen the party’s presence and effectiveness at the grassroots level.

The Governor of Central Equatoria State, H.E. Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has officially launched the long-awaited showing of demarcated areas of Kapuri Hai Salam, marking a significant step toward organized settlement and development in the area after 15 years of delay.

The event brought together state officials, community leaders, and residents as the government began the process of formally opening roads and allocating plots within the residential area.

Speaking during the launch, Governor Adil congratulated the community of Rombur for their cooperation and for providing land to accommodate returnees who came back from Khartoum following the independence of South Sudan in 2011.
He urged residents of Kapuri Hai Salam to work closely with engineers and technical teams during the surveying and road-opening process to ensure smooth implementation of the development plan.

The State Minister of Housing, Hon. David Morbe Aquilino, emphasized that the exercise reflects the commitment of the state government to improve land management and service delivery to citizens. He noted that the Ministry of Housing has the responsibility to organize land allocation, ensure proper planning, and provide services to communities.

Morbe further highlighted that the showing and handover of demarcated plots, along with the provision of services, remain among the top priorities of Governor Adil’s administration.

Meanwhile, Hon. Emmanuel Tete explained that the opening of roads in Kapuri Hai Salam is intended to facilitate development and enable the establishment of essential public services such as schools, health facilities, and security institutions.

Officials say the initiative is expected to improve settlement planning, infrastructure development, and access to basic services for residents of Kapuri Hai Salam .

SSRA Chief Orders Mandatory Use of E-Tax System For All Gov’t Payments

The Commissioner General of the South Sudan Revenue Authority (SSRA), Amb. Moun Deng Ajuet has ordered the immediate and mandatory use of the national e-tax system for all government payments, directing that all government revenues must be paid exclusively through the national e-tax system.

According to the Commissioner General Deng, this directive conforms with Presidential Order No. 35/2025, which requires the full digitalization of public revenue collection and prohibits the manual handling of government funds.

“All taxes, fees, levies, duties, penalties, permits, and any other government payments must be made only through the official e-tax platform,” Deng stated.

The Revenue Authority chief further explained that the manual collection of government revenue is strictly prohibited.

He warned that any individual or institution found collecting payments outside the digital system would face administrative penalties and possible legal action in accordance with the law of the land.

“No government official, department, agency, or authorized collector is permitted to receive cash cheques, or any other form of manual payment outside the system,” he added.

Deng said the measure is aimed at strengthening transparency and accountability in public financial management.

The initiative is also expected to help prevent revenue leakages, enable real-time monitoring of revenue collections, and improve efficiency and convenience for taxpayers.

Taxpayers have been urged to ensure that all payments are made only through the official e-tax platform and to obtain the electronic receipt generated by the system as proof of payment.

“Any request for manual payment should be reported immediately to the Ministry of Finance or the appropriate oversight authority,” he added, noting that the tax agency will conduct inspections and audits to verify compliance.

He noted that the directive forms part of the government’s broader reform program aimed at modernizing revenue administration, strengthening compliance, and safeguarding national resources.

“All stakeholders are required to comply fully,” noted the commissioner general, Amb. Moun Deng Ajuet.

Kiir dismisses and appoints technical advisors at petroleum ministry

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has issued a presidential decree dismissing and appointing technical advisors at the Ministry of Petroleum.

According to the decree, Awou Daniel, Mohamed Lino, and William Anyak were relieved of their duties as technical advisors at the ministry.

The same decree appointed Mayen Wol, Kon Jon Akot, and Charles Modi as the new technical advisors at the Ministry of Petroleum.

South Sudan parts ways with national team coach Nicolas Dupuis

The South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) has mutually agreed to part ways with senior men’s national team head coach Nicolas Dupuis after 28 months in charge of the Bright Stars.

The announcement was made at a press briefing in Juba by Acting Chairperson of the National Team Committee Abraham Ajo Kuol. Officials said the decision followed a mutual settlement agreement signed on March 11, 2026, stressing that it was not a contract termination and involved no financial dispute.

The federation thanked Dupuis for his professionalism and contributions to the development of the national team during his tenure.

Assistant coach Ashu will temporarily lead the squad as South Sudan prepares for Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches against Djibouti on March 26 and 29 at Juba National Stadium.

In a farewell message, Dupuis thanked the federation, players and fans, urging continued support for the Bright Stars.

Governor Adil has directed newly appointed Revenue and Insurance Authority chiefs to demonstrate integrity and transparency in their roles.

Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has issued a stern directive to the Newly appointed Commissioner Generals of State Revenue Authority, and State Insurance Regulatory Authority to exhibit integrity, transparency, and diligence as they took oath of office at a ceremony held at the State Government Secretariat.

The officials sworn-in include Hon. Franco Mogga Wani as the Commissioner General for the State Revenue Authority, deputized by Hon. Flora Gabriel Modi, and Hon. Emmanuel Juma Diyo as the Commissioner General for the State Insurance Regulatory Authority.

The Governor emphasized that the two Revenue Generating institutions to improve revenue Collection systems, promote voluntary tax compliance, and strengthen accountability in public financial management.

While reiterating his support to the appointed officials, Governor Adil reaffirmed his administration's commitment to strengthening the Revenue generating institutions in order to improve public service delivery, promote economic growth, and ensure responsible management of public resources.

"As leaders of these two important institutions, you are expected to demonstrate integrity, competence, accountability, and dedication to public service. Your offices require strong leadership that will build credible institutions capable of supporting the development aspirations of Central Equatoria State," remarked the Governor.

On behalf of the officials sworn-in, Hon. Franco Mogga Wani ,the Commissioner General of State Revenue Authority outlined financial reform, as top priority while reiterating cooperation with the State Ministry of Finance and relevant institutions to ensure that policies and regulations are implemented effectively for public benefits.

Senior officials present at the event called for stronger measures in safeguarding financial stability and to prioritize service delivery as the country gears up for the December polls.
