An Open Letter to the Office of the Senior Presidential Envoy - Republic of South Sudan and Ask Foundation .

I would kindly want to request Hon.Mrs Adut Salva Kiir Mayardit the Senior Presidential Envoy on Special Programs and the Founder of ASK Foundation to consider John Lual Garang a disabled senior leaver who finished his Secondary School Certificate in 2025 and lack scholarship for University.

Since ASK Foundation is tirelessly working on the vulnerable, disabled and elderly ones in South Sudan, can you please consider this brilliant young disabled man who writes and draws with his mouth to reach his success.
Such people are rare and need attention from the government and NGOs.
Lual made it to be among the best students after scoring the highest marks in his Primary Leaving Certificate at their payam level and made it to perform well in his South Sudan Certificate after scoring 75% average just with his mouth 💔🥹🥲.

Unfortunately he has been down since last year up to now,no education,no job just hustling by drawing with his mouth to earn a living for himself and his siblings.
Dr Benjamin Bol Mel the former Vice President promised him for University studies in Nairobi and he didn't implement the promise.

Kindly consider him and we will appreciate 🙏
Otherwise thanks
Your sincere David Madhan Deng

Parliament to summon Interior minister, Defence minister and Warrap Governor over Greater Tonj Killings

The Transitional National Legislative Assembly has summoned the ministers of interior and defence, along with the governor of Warrap State, to answer questions over worsening insecurity in the Greater Tonj area, lawmakers said on Wednesday.

The move followed an urgent motion tabled by Warrap lawmaker Kornelio Mawien Dhor, who said escalating violence in July had claimed hundreds of lives and left communities in fear.

Mawien told parliament that intercommunal clashes, cattle raiding and revenge attacks had become increasingly common across the area, undermining public security and the rule of law.

He added that the situation had been aggravated by the widespread possession of fi****ms among civilians.

Parliament Speaker Joseph Ngere Paciko deferred debate on the motion until the summoned officials appear before lawmakers to respond to the concerns raised.

Dr. Machar fails to present after defense team unable to meet him

Accused No. 5, Dr. Riek Machar, who was expected to present his defense during today's 104th court session, did not make it after his defense lawyers were unable to meet with him.

Defense lawyer Kur Lual Kur informed the court that his legal team was unable to access Dr. Machar due to administrative delays by the National Security Service.

The court directed that the defense team be allowed to meet Dr. Machar tomorrow to prepare for his defense.

The Special Court has therefore adjourned the case until Friday, August 7, 2026.

Hunger shuts down classes at Agordit Primary School as volunteer teachers walk away

Learning has been disrupted at Agordit Primary School in Paloch Payam, Upper Nile State, after volunteer teachers suspended classes due to hunger and a lack of support.

The volunteer teachers said they were forced to close the school after a community feeding program that had sustained them was discontinued without explanation.

They added that they had been teaching for months without receiving incentives from the Community Development (CD) program that previously supported the school.

Speaking to Aweil News Agency, one of the volunteer teachers, Chol Bol Chol, said the feeding program had been their only source of support.

“I have just come to the Adar oilfields to work on grass-cutting projects so that I can earn something. The only source of support that helped me take care of my parents has been stopped,” Chol said.

Agordit is located in one of South Sudan’s oil-producing areas. Crude oil from the surrounding fields is transported to the Paloch operational base before being exported through Port Sudan.

Blind Pupil Ranks First in Primary Five at Maduany Primary School

Deng Deng Chol Atem, a blind learner in Northern Bahr El Ghazal State at Maduany Primary School in Mariem East Payam, Aweil West County, has proven that determination knows no limits after emerging as the top-performing pupil in Primary Five.

Despite being unable to see or write, Deng has consistently excelled in his studies through attentive listening, active participation, and unwavering commitment to learning.

According to his teacher, Ust. Tong Atak, Deng has attended classes from nursery to Primary Five, carefully listening to every lesson and asking questions whenever he needed more explanation.

During examinations, Deng sits in the school office with an invigilator while a teacher reads each question aloud. He then responds verbally, and the teacher records his answers.

“Deng listens attentively during lessons and is never afraid to ask questions when he does not understand something. During examinations, the questions are read to him, and he answers orally while the teacher writes down his responses,” Ust. Tong Atak told Aweil News Agency.

The teacher added that Deng also ranked first in Primary Four last year, making this his second consecutive year as the top learner in his class.

Deng’s remarkable achievement is a powerful reminder that disability is not inability. His resilience, dedication, and love for education continue to inspire his classmates, teachers, and the wider community, proving that with determination and hard work, no dream is beyond reach.
