BIOGRAPHY AND LIFE HISTORY
Kuer Jok Biar Angeth, affectionately known to her friends as Betty Biar and lovingly called Sheena or Sheen Sheen by her family, was born on 14 April 1990 in Juba, South Sudan. She was the second-born of eight siblings in the family of Jok Biar Angeth Diing Ruk of Alian, Abeer, Burju Section. Her mother, Abuk Majok Majuch, hailed from Mundari, Tali.
Kuer was married to Ustaz Mr. Ayuen Majok Garang of Juet, Jak-Pagumbiir, and was a loving mother of two daughters, Alek and Adier.
A few months after her birth, the family moved to Khartoum, Sudan, where Kuer began and completed her nursery and elementary education. After the family returned to Juba, she continued her studies at Juba One Girls Primary School, completing her primary education in Arabic. She later moved to Kakuma, Kenya, where she completed Primary Eight in English at Kakuma Girls Primary School.
Following her marriage in 2007, Kuer moved to Kampala, Uganda, where she attended The Makerere Day and Evening Class for Adults (MAECA), located on Sir Apollo Kaggwa Road, and completed her O-Level education. She subsequently pursued various courses in business, entrepreneurship, public relations, and related fields, further expanding her knowledge and preparing herself for the business world.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND BUSINESS
Kuer was an accomplished and enterprising businesswoman. She was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of TT for General Trading Co. Ltd, through which she engaged in business and established networks across Africa, North America, the Middle East, and Europe.
Her entrepreneurial journey took her to several countries, including Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.
Through her business activities, Kuer demonstrated remarkable determination, independence, resilience, and an ability to create opportunities for herself and others.
PUBLIC SERVICE AND GOVERNMENT
In the public sector, Kuer Jok Biar Angeth was a dedicated public servant at the Ministry of Housing, Physical Planning and Environment. She joined the ministry shortly after South Sudan gained independence and served there from its establishment in 2011.
Throughout her public service, she contributed to the work of the ministry and played her part in supporting the development and public administration of the newly independent Republic of South Sudan. Her service in government, alongside her entrepreneurial and community activities, reflected her commitment to contributing to the development of her country and improving the lives of others.
COMMUNITY SERVICE AND EMPOWERMENT
Beyond business, Kuer was deeply committed to supporting and empowering fellow South Sudanese. She used her resources, experience, and international networks to help others pursue opportunities abroad.
Throughout her life, she helped more than 50 South Sudanese access opportunities in countries including the United States, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. Within her own Alian clan alone, she helped more than 16 people secure opportunities abroad.
She also supported and educated members of her family and community in different parts of the world, including Malaysia, Nairobi, Canada, and Kampala. Her generosity extended beyond education and travel; she provided financial, material, and personal support to people in need and contributed to various community initiatives.
FAMILY AND PERSONAL LIFE
Family was a huge part of Kuer Jok Biar Angeth’s life. She was not only a sister but a mother to her siblings. For more than 15 years, Betty was the breadwinner and one of the greatest pillars of the Biar Angeth family.
When her father, Jok Biar Angeth, became blind and her mother had no sustainable source of income, Kuer stepped forward and assumed enormous responsibility for the family. In 2014, she moved the entire Jok Biar household to Kampala so that her siblings could access quality education and better opportunities.
She took her siblings in as though they were her own children. She raised, supported, educated, protected, guided, and stood beside them as they grew into adults. She also took and educated some of her family members and followers in Malaysia, Nairobi, Canada, and Kampala.
She never gave up on them.
She never turned her back on them.
She gave them what she could, even when she had little for herself.
CAUSE OF DEATH
Kuer Jok Biar Angeth passed away on 6 August 2026 at St. Francis Hospital–Nsambya in Kampala, Uganda, following complications from bronchopneumonia, during which she also experienced elevated blood pressure. She left behind a grieving family, relatives, friends, colleagues, and a wider community of people whose lives she touched throughout her life.
Her passing is a profound loss to everyone who knew and loved her. Yet, while her physical presence is no longer with us, the lives she transformed, the opportunities she created, and the family she carried will continue to tell the story of her remarkable life.
LEGACY
Kuer Jok Biar Angeth will forever be remembered for her entrepreneurial spirit, resilience, generosity, determination, compassion, courage, and commitment to family and community.
Her greatest legacy was not only the business she built, but the people she lifted. She opened doors for others, supported families, educated children, empowered young people, and helped more than 50 South Sudanese pursue opportunities abroad. Within her own Alian clan, more than 16 people benefited directly from her support and determination.
Her legacy will live on through the family she loved, the people she supported, the opportunities she created, and the many lives she touched.
