The government has dismissed a rumor alleging a plan to assassinate the suspended First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny.
Minister of Information and Official Government Spokesperson, Ateny Wek Ateny, issued the denial in Juba on Saturday, saying the claims are baseless trying to dilute political focus and discredit ongoing court proceedings.

Ateny says Dr. Machar is being accorded maximum protection by President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

Exploring the country’s infrastructure development, we go to Torit in Eastern Equatoria State, where Kinaiti Bridge has reopened to traffic following rehabilitation by the Rural Development Action Aid.

The reopening is expected to ease transportation and improve access to markets for surrounding communities.

The Acting Governor, Carlo Andrew Akwo, says the bridge will play a significant role in facilitating the movement of people and goods.

Signs of improved peace and stability are emerging in Tonj East and Tonj South counties of Warrap State, with communities resuming free movement and cattle herding in areas previously affected by conflict.

SSBC footage shows people travelling freely, cattle moving between villages and camps, and youth interacting peacefully. In Tonj South, communities from Apuk-Juwiir, Thony, Yar and Muok are moving freely with their cattle, while similar movements are reported in Luacjang, Jalwau, Akook, Thiik and Luackoth in Tonj East.

However, poor roads and drought continue to challenge communities. Low rainfall has damaged crops and reduced agricultural production, increasing pressure on families dependent on farming and livestock. Continued humanitarian and livelihood support is needed as communities rebuild and strengthen local peace.
