Turning your attention to the humanitarian situation in Upper Nile State, Senior Presidential Envoy on Special Programmes, Adut Salva Kiir, has pledged humanitarian support to communities in the state that have been devastated by floods and the continued arrival of returnees and refugees from Sudan, creating a relief crisis.

Adut’s pledge comes during a meeting with the Governor of Upper Nile State, Jacob Dollar Ruot, who briefed her on his plans to manage the state ahead of his upcoming visit there.

Additionally, Adut noted that her humanitarian programme will benefit all communities, including the most vulnerable groups.

The Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. Bak Barnaba Chol Bak has assumed office on Thursday following a vibrant reception ceremony attended by top officials from other institutions including South Sudan Revenue Authority, the Bank of South Sudan, Trade and Petroleum Ministries.

Dr. Bak, publicly known as BBC was re-appointed on Monday by President Salva Kiir, replacing Athian Diing Athian. As he begins his role, Bak outlines his plans of transforming South Sudan’s economy, with agriculture topping his agenda for economic diversification.
