PRESIDENT KIIR DIRECTS SECURITY ORGANS TO WORK AS A TEAM TO PROTECT CITIZENS AS HE CONGRATULATES PROMOTED ARMY GENERALS

We begin with a major military development. The Commander-in-Chief of all the organised forces and President of the Republic, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has directed the heads of security organs to work as a team in protecting citizens and safeguarding public prosperity.

The President issued the directive while decorating newly promoted military generals, including Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel.

Senior Presidential Envoy on Special Programmes, Adut Salva Kiir, has assured South Sudanese women that her office will prioritise peace, as well as the social and economic empowerment of women and youth, groups she described as the backbone of the nation’s prosperity.

She made the remarks while addressing an event organised by Bahr el Ghazal women in honour of her recent appointment.

The event’s special guest, Vice President for the Service Cluster, Josephine Joseph Lagu, urged women to champion peace and reconciliation as vital tools for nation-building.

Several high-profile government officials were in attendance, including Vice President Rebecca Nyandeng Garang, Deputy Speaker of the Council of States Mary Ayen Majok, Minister of Youth and Sports Mary Nawai Martin, as well as the Governors of Lakes and Central Equatoria States, and the Governor of the Bank of South Sudan.

The celebration featured cultural performances and emotional expressions of pride and solidarity from the women in attendance.

In Rumbek, the capital of Lakes State, communities from the recently elevated eleven Bomas to Payams have begun mobilizing resources to lay the foundation stone for administrative offices.

This initiative is seen as a way of welcoming the decision made by Governor Gen. Rin Tueny, approved through the Council of Ministers in consultation with grassroots communities.

The development is being hailed as a reflection of the SPLM’s vision to bring services closer to the people, a core principle of “taking towns to the people” through effective service delivery.

Elites from the Nuer community are calling on Nuer youth and spiritual leaders to join peace and reconciliation efforts in support of national unity and stability. They made the calls during the funeral prayers of the late Maj. Gen. James Wichjong Chuatway, held at his residence in Giada. Military colleagues paid tribute to his significant role in the liberation of South Sudan from Khartoum’s social and economic oppression.

The late General James, a commander in the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces, passed away in Cairo last month.

Minister of peacebuilding, Stephen Par Kuol, urged the family to remain united during this difficult time.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Tuong Majok expressed gratitude to President Salva Kiir Mayardit for his support to the family during their time of mourning.

The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, and a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) reviewed the humanitarian work of the organization in Kajokeji County for the Internally displaced people.

Both the Head of Operation of ICRC in South Sudan, Daniel Bunnskog, and the Executive Director of the State Relief and Rehabilitation Commission, Mathew Abujin explained to the media the outcome of the meeting.

Senior Presidential Envoy on Special Programmes, Adut Salva Kiir, has commended Israel for treating more than 200 South Sudanese children with heart complications and for launching another phase of screening children for treatment abroad.

Adut expressed her appreciation to the government of Israel during a meeting with the Israeli Ambassador to South Sudan, Gershon Kedar.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in health, agriculture, education, and sports. In other news, Adut reaffirmed her commitment to addressing the plight of more than 33,000 people affected by flooding in Fangak.

NASIR INVESTIGATION CHARGES FVP DR. RIEK AND 7 OTHERS FOR CONSPIRACY & MURDER

The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs releases the outcome of its investigation into the Nasir incident, which occurred between the 3rd and 7th of March this year. The report charges SPLM-IO leader and First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon, along with Petroleum Minister Puot Kang Chol, Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Lt. Gen. Gabriel Duop Lam, and several others.

The accused face multiple charges, including murder, conspiracy, terrorism, treason, destruction of public property, and crimes against humanity. The investigation established that the White Army acted under the command and influence of SPLM/A-in-Opposition leaders.

Report confirmed that the Nasir attacks were carried out by the militant group known as the White Army, resulting in the killing of Maj. Gen. David Majur Dak, more than 250 SSPDF soldiers, and a United Nations pilot.
