1. President Salva Kiir Mayardit has promoted Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, Vice President for the Economic Cluster, from Lieutenant General to Four-Star General in the National Security Services. Also elevated to the rank of Four-Star General is the Minister of National Security, Obote Mamur Mete, who previously held the rank of Lieutenant General. Meanwhile, Presidential Advisor on National Security, Madut Dut Yel, has been promoted from Major General to Lieutenant General in the SSPDF.

2. SPLM-IO has warned that if the government does not willingly release Dr. Riek Machar and other detained officials, they will resort to all means necessary to secure their release.

3. At least 15 people were killed and 53 others injured in renewed intercommunal clashes in Rumbek North, Lakes State, on Saturday, according to the Acting State Information Minister.

Information to generally assembly

This note serves to inform the general assembly of Jurmananger Youth Association in Juba that the term for the current leadership, which took over the office on this day, the 7th of September 2023 has come to an end with effect from today as in the attached document.

The office would therefore like to inform those who want to run for chairmanship to start doing their campaign in brotherly and peaceful manner.

Arrangements for the venue and the date of election are underway and will be announced soon by the office.
