South Sudan has officially qualified for the Blind Football African Championship Division 1, which serves as the pathway to the 2028 Paralympic Games.

After an impressive performance — defeating Uganda 3–0 and Zimbabwe 2–0 — the Bright Stars have secured their place in the final of Blind of blind football African championship Division 2 on 29th October 2025.

South Sudan’s blind football players are making history, representing the country for the first time at the inaugural IBSA Blind Football African Championship Division 2.

The team is set to face hosts Uganda, as well as Senegal and Zimbabwe, in their first-ever international matches.

The top two teams in the tournament will advance to Division 1 next year, moving South Sudan one step closer to a dream that once seemed impossible qualifying for the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.

BREAKING: 63 Killed in Tragic Midnight Crash on Kampala–Gulu Highway

At least 63 people have been confirmed dead and several others injured in a fatal road accident that occurred around 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Kitaleba Village near Asili Farm along the Kampala–Gulu Highway.

Police say the crash involved four vehicles two Isuzu buses (Nile Star Coaches and Planet Company), a Toyota Surf, and a Tata lorry. Preliminary reports indicate that both buses were overtaking simultaneously from opposite directions, resulting in a deadly head-on collision that triggered a pile-up.

All 63 victims were occupants of the involved vehicles. Emergency teams are at the scene rescuing survivors and transporting the injured to nearby hospitals.

Police have urged motorists to avoid reckless overtaking and adhere to traffic rules to prevent further tragedies.
