SOUTH SUDAN SHOULD HAVE NYSC AFTER GRADUATION, LIKE NIGERIA:

NYSC stands for National Youth Service Corps, a program in Nigeria aimed at involving Nigerian graduates in nation-building and development since 1973. The scheme is designed to foster unity, understanding, and cooperation among Nigerians from diverse backgrounds.

*Key Aspects of NYSC:
1. Purpose:
Encourage national integration and youth development.

2. Eligibility:
Typically Nigerian graduates from recognised institutions.

3. Service:
Members are posted to states different from their states of origin for a year of service.

4. Activities:
Include community development projects, teaching, healthcare services, and more.

The NYSC program is a significant part of Nigeria's efforts to engage young graduates in national development and promote cross-cultural understanding among youths.

South Sudan could potentially benefit from a program similar to Nigeria's National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), which aims to promote national unity, integration, and development among young graduates. Nigeria's NYSC is a mandatory one-year service program for graduates under 30, focusing on community development, cultural exchange, and professional experience.

Like Egypt, male fresh graduates are admitted to a one-year paramilitary service program and get a certificate to get employed with, which gives them a 70% possibility of getting a job than non-paramilitary students.

And in Sudan, National school certificate students are first obliged to join the Military Service Obligation before admission to Universities, they do this to get experience in serving the country.

So, South Sudan should acquire this system program for South Sudan's fresh graduates to fight tribalism, corruption, job lobbing and create National Youth (students) Unity in South Sudan.

A Call for Responsibility in Social Media Use

As young people of the Republic of South Sudan, we must recognize that defamation, baseless allegations, and online disputes will not solve our pressing issues. The conflicts we face today should not be fought through social media; rather, we should unite our efforts toward nation-building and enhancing our capacities for future prosperity.

Core values such as patience, discipline, respect, honesty, loyalty, and political stability are essential in both politics and human life. I urge my generation to engage in politically motivated practices that uphold these principles. We must not fall victim to the misleading and harmful use of social media. Education and intellect extend beyond mere reading and writing; they require thoughtful reflection, especially before posting online.

While everyone has the right to express their opinions publicly, we must remember that contradicting another person's rights undermines the essence of that freedom. It is crucial that we use social media responsibly for the greater good. Respect should be our priority, regardless of political affiliations. We must abide by the codes of conduct instilled by our families and institutions.

Let us take responsibility for our reputations and represent our families with dignity in public spaces. Our conduct is a reflection of our identities, and we have the power to shape our collective future.

South Sudanese Student Killed in Egypt Gang Attack

A South Sudanese medical student was killed in Egypt on September 9 after being attacked by a group of gangs.

The victim, identified as Dr. Tong Gong Gong from Aweil in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, was a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University. He was reportedly studying at a South Sudanese church in Egypt when the gangs assaulted him.
