The alleged death of the His excellency the president of south sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit which was first speculated by a prominent Kenyan news blogger has made headlines for four full days. The speculation which caught a mass attention was quickly refuted by the south sudan ministry of foreign affairs. However it was met with strong criticism from netizens as they do believe that it is not the right body to address the nation on such issues. The immediate creation of check points around the city further complicated this as the speculations continued by affiliating it to alleged death of the president. As of today the official page of the president was met with criticism as it did not address the situation surrounding the presidency. It instead posted an old photo after a meeting with the vice president for gender cluster Rebecca Nyandeng. The old photo further led to more criticism as a handful of citizens demanded that the president addresses the nation to bring calm among the people. This is the best that we could gather surrounding the president's death speculations and we urge citizens to remain calm and not fall to any information that they get on the Internet. We believe that the government is the right source to make such announcements if at all such situations arise.
