Man reportedly arrested for calling for release of former Vice President Dr. Bol Mel

A man identified as Ajith Deng Ajith, also known as Kuku, was reportedly arrested for calling for the release of former Vice President Dr. Bol Mel during the President's visit yesterday in Aweil Town.

It is said that Mr. Ajith was seen in the crowd carrying a placard bearing the words “Free Dr. BBM,” an abbreviation that obviously stands for “Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel.”

Reports indicate the display of a 'freedom placard' prompted the members of the Presidential Guard (Tiger Division) to arrest Mr. Kuku and take him to a Military Intelligence(MI) facility for questioning.

According to a source that spoke to Aweil News Agency on condition of anonymity, Mr. Kuku was later released on bail yesterday evening and instructed to report back this morning as investigations continue.

Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel has reportedly been under house arrest since November 2025, without having been brought before a court for trial, a continuous detention that has drawn calls for release from the members of the public, one of which includes Mr. Ajith's placard in Aweil Town.

Efforts to reach Military Intelligence officials for comment were unsuccessful at the time of this publication.

Good morning, wherever you are. We’re here to break down the gossip around the Ciec Peace Tournament, which Malek Payam won for the second time.

Even before the date for the final was announced, reports leaked that the trophy originally designed with the Ciec symbol was illegally handed to Malek people to take home for “blessings” and return later. Others had no knowledge of this. The plan was to keep it secret, but nothing stays secret in South Sudan.

A close source who was monitoring the situation gave us the name of the person the cup was handed to, and the number of days it spent in the village. He said they kept it for three days before returning it.

It’s only in Yirol East County that you find such incidents in a football competition meant for peace. The top management of the Ciec Peace Tournament, led by Mc Ajok who is from Malek, was behind all of this. A source within management who is not from Malek said the CEO of the tournament didn’t even know about the cup.

A few things to highlight that prove the Ciec Peace Tournament was not for everyone, but was meant for Malek Payam:
1. Since the first matches, none of Malek’s games were ever called off for any reason, and Malek’s game was always scheduled as the first game of the day.
2. In the awards, there was supposed to be transparency. The Best Player award was given to Mazee, who had two yellow cards and bad conduct, and played in all games that should have disqualified him, if not for Malek. Bol Lembi deserved that award. He had no yellow cards and no misconduct on or off the pitch.
3. The Best Coach award was also neglected. Malek’s coach was sent off with a red card and didn’t deserve it, while Coach Mario had no red card and deserved it. A well-organized tournament like the CPT should never lack a Best Coach award unless there’s corruption.

One of the notorious killers, known as Jelle Lobuyu from the Mundari tribe, murdered many people in South Sudan for many years. He killed a lot of people in the cattle camps along the Juba area, in the villages, and along the road by ambushing people.

And he also killed the great champion wrestler from Aliap, called Achakarach Dhor Kuorwel Achol, and Makeer Kur Mach from Pale. Jelle is one who killed 14 people on April 2, 2026, in Wut Gok near Juba, an out-of-force area. He killed many people in Mundari, Jonglei, and Lakes State.

Jelle was not good with his own people, the Mundari people, by killing them too. The Mundari people are great people who intermarry and live well with others. But one killer like Jelle was destroying the relationship along the way, while some people thought that all the mundari were killing people.

During his capture, many Mundari men from his own tribe were happy and celebrated by dancing because Jelle was killing them within his own community and in the surrounding area.

So, Jelle Lobuyu was captured near the Juba outpost of Luri, after his phone was intercepted while he was trying to sell the cows to another man. His phone was monitored in Juba by people using Radar communication.

Jelle was captured alive with his bodyguard, and a trial was held in the Lakes States. In Lakes State, the law is an eye for an eye; if you kill someone, then you deserve the same measure. Jelle was executed today in their time zone in Africa from South Sudan on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
