Juba, September 30, 2026 โ The SPLM-IG-established sham court, known as the Special Court on the Incident of Nasir, held its 118th session this morning at its usual venue, Freedom Hall. The tribunal specifically targets leaders and members of the SPLM/A-IO, notably the Movementโs Chairman, Commander-in-Chief, and First Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, H.E. Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon.
During todayโs session, the judicial panel of the sham court issued several directives in response to the defence's security application concerning imminent threats to the safety of H.E. Dr. Riek Machar, the co-accused, and their legal team.
Noting that the investigation remains ongoing, the court directed that all security personnel named in the application in connection to the cowardly assassination plot be removed from the court proceedings, effective immediately.
The court further ordered that security protection be provided to es**rt the legal counsel representing H.E. Dr. Riek Machar and the co-accused to and from the courthouse at Freedom Hall.
Additionally, the panel directed all security apparatus in Juba to ensure that all transit routes to the courthouse are secure and adequately guarded, guaranteeing the safety of the SPLM/A-IO accused and their defense lawyers while commuting to and from court sessions.
Moreover, as a preventive measure addressing the ongoing threats against H.E. Dr. Riek Machar, the co-accused, and their legal team, the court directed that the eight SPLM/A-IO accused and their defence counsel refrain from sitting in their designated official seats. Instead, they are permitted to choose any seats within the courtroom's gallery during sessions until the conclusion of the investigation into these threats.
