Alijoma Mabil still won the hearts of almost everyone in Africa

JUST IN: STA Awards CEO refuses to grant Alijoma any awards for the second consecutive year, following a fallout between the two.

Alijoma and Marko Madut, once believed to be close friends in Nairobi, ended their friendship in December 2023 after both organized events on the same day. According to sources, Alijoma had booked Freedom Hall for his Listeners Party on December 22, 2023. However, his plans were disrupted when Marko used his connections to secure the same date at the venue, forcing Alijoma to find an alternative location, which he eventually chose to be Imperial Plaza.

Upon learning that Alijoma had rescheduled his event to Imperial Plaza on the same day as the STA Awards, Marko allegedly instructed his team to redistribute all awards that were intended for Alijoma to other artists. This included major accolades like Artist of the Year and Song of the Year (for Saluk), among others.

Sources claim that Marko was heard vowing never to let Alijoma win an award while he remains CEO of the STA Awards. True to his word, despite Alijoma's chart-topping hits in 2024, the popular singer received zero award on the night.

Jose Chameleone

Jose Chameleone Real Name Joseph Mayanja born on April 30, 1979, in Kampala, Uganda, is one of East Africa's most renowned Afrobeat artists. He grew up in a musically inclined family as the fourth child of Gerald Mayanja and Prossy Musoke. His passion for music was evident from a young age, inspired by his grandfather, a guitarist, and his father, a band member. Chameleone pursued his education at Nakasero Primary School and later attended Mengo Secondary, Kawempe Muslim Secondary, and Katikamu SDA schools, although his academic journey faced challenges. He began his career as a DJ in Kampala and transitioned into music with the Kenyan record label Ogopa Deejays, releasing his debut hit single, "Bageya," in 2000.

Chameleone's music blends Afrobeat, reggae, and local Ugandan sounds, earning him fame across Africa and beyond. Notable albums include Mama Mia, Valu Valu, Bayuda, and Badilisha. His songs, such as Jamila, Shida za Dunia, and Wale Wale, have garnered widespread acclaim. As the founder of Leone Island Music Empire, he has mentored prominent artists like Weasel, Radio, and King Saha. Chameleone's international tours span continents, with performances in the US, UK, Sweden, and Malaysia, among others. His contributions to music have been recognized with multiple awards, including Pearl of Africa Music Awards and Tanzania Music Awards.

Beyond music, Chameleone has engaged in philanthropy through the Chameleone Foundation, promoting youth development and awareness on critical issues like HIV/AIDS. He also ventured into politics, contesting for Kampala’s Lord Mayor position in 2021. Married to Daniella Atim since 2008, they share five children. Despite personal and professional challenges, Chameleone remains a pivotal figure in African music, celebrated for his artistry and influence.
