Tonj South County Commissioner Hon. John Ayitiak Warwien Formed Monitoring and Follow up peace committees (MFPC) during the peace meeting in Wanh-alel today.

Tonj South County government held a fruitful meeting today between Chiefs and Mijook-wuot in wanh-alel Payam, Hon. John Ayitiak Warwien commissioner of Tonj South county outlined the agendas for the Peace meeting in wanh-alel.
1. Disarmament
2. Peace to prevail by all means
3. Freedom of movement among all the communities of Tonj South County.
The hon. commissioner acknowledged the efforts of chiefs and Mijook-wuot for accepting peace amongst themselves, implementation of state of emergency and voluntary disarmament

Chief Machuong Chol Yout said that his community has willingly accepted peace and voluntary disarmament and stated that disarmament will start tomorrow from his community Tarweng.

Chief Machuong Chol officially opened the road for free movement of cattle, people, and local goods between Thony and Apuk-Juwiir communities.

Chief Nyin Athuai Aguet-dhok, said he had already started the disarmament process yesterday in Malual-Mouk Payam and he managed to collect three guns and he promised to collect more guns from the hands of civilians in the Muok Community.

All chiefs and Mijook-wuot in Tonj South county agreed to hand over illegal arms from the hands of civilians during the peace meeting today in wanh-alel Payam.

They also agreed on the following;
1. Exchange and free movement of cattle in grazing areas, cattle camp, and water points.
2. Free movement of people and free trade of local products among Tonj South communities
3. They all agreed to implement the disarmament process as they promised H.E Amb. Bol Wek Agoth governor of Warrap State.

Hon. John Ayitiak Warwien commissioner of Tonj South county Formed Monitoring and follow-up peace committees (MFPC) amongst Tonj South communities.

The monitoring and follow-up peace committee's comprise chiefs and Mijook-wuot, and they will be in charge of areas of Atom, Ayigak, Wanh-alel, and Mabior-Yar.

Peace meeting between Chiefs and Mijook-wuot in wanh-alel, Tonj South, was attended by Tonj South County authority, former Commissioner of Wanhalel county defunct Tonj State Hon. Makuer Tiau, SPLM Secretariat Gabriel Majok Manyual and heads of security organs.

Luacjang community ready to meet a united Greater Ananatak community for comprehensive reconciliation

Saturday, August 2, 2025 - Romic, Tonj East County

The Governor of Warrap State held a State of Emergency briefing for Luacjang community in Rumabuth, Romic, Tonj East County with a staunch call for the surrender of all weapons possessed by civilians to the Government.

H.E. Amb. Bol Wek extended President Kiir's message of peace and reconciliation to the Luacjang community and Warrap State in extension, during the meeting.

"Refrain from conflict and educate your children. Train them to build their community instead of destroying it." The Governor of Warrap State told the gathering.

In his remarks, Sultan Agok Aguer Adel, explained in the meeting that he has lost a son in senseless conflicts within Tonj East, but he is ready to forgive his brothers from Jalwau in order for peace, reconciliation and development to be achieved.

Consequently, Luac Aguer Adel community rallied behind Sultan Agok Aguer, but alternatively spoke thoroughly on the need for government to improve provision of essential services to their people, like equipping health centres, building education facilities and renovating the roads.

In his closing remarks, H.E. the Governor assured Luacjang community that his call for reconciliation does not cancel grievances, but it is only meant to halt hostilities, paving way for Justice through the rule of law.

Accompanying the Governor include; H.E. Ayak Bona Nyang, Gen. Garang Mabil, Rt. Hon. Kuec Deng Mayar, State Advisors, State Ministers, Heads of Independent Commissions, State MPs, SPLM Officials and heads of security organs.

Suzan Yar Maker, wife of Vice President for the Economic Cluster Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, has been elected chairlady of the Greater Bahr el Ghazal Women's Union during an event held in Juba at Raddison Blu Hotel, according to Sudd Media.

The union, which encompasses women from four states in the region, plays a strategic role in shaping policy dialogue around gender equity and regional development.

Observers view Yar Maker's election as a significant development, potentially bridging political leadership and grassroots women's movements. Her ties to the national executive may offer the union expanded access to policy platforms and development networks.

In her remarks, Yar Maker emphasized a commitment to inclusive leadership, stating, "The voices of our women must be heard - from village councils to national forums."

Her election signals a continuation of efforts to integrate women's priorities into South Sudan's broader economic and political agenda.

The former state minister of finance (2005-2010) and Minister of Petroleum (2010-2011) in the government of National Unity of Sudan, and the economic adviser to Dr. John Garang(2003-2005), Dr. Lual A. Achuek has launched the second edition of his book “The Power of Creative Reasoning: Ideas and vision of Dr. John Garang de Mabior” in Kigali, Rwanda.

Dr. Lual, in his book, made a call to action, reminding the young citizens that Garang’s legacy is not merely historical, but a living call to action. His ideals should motivate policymakers to engage actively in the development of South Sudan, inspiring a new generation of leaders and citizens to uphold his vision and work towards the socio-economic upliftment of their communities, what he termed in his book as ‘Garangnomic and Garangism’. He said, “here, the idea of making agriculture the economy’s engine fueled through oil revenues, is popular and will remain a solid foundation of his enduring legacy.”

The launching was made on the historical day, the 20th anniversary to commemorate the death of Dr. John Garang de Mabior with more than 500 young South Sudanese in Rwanda and their families, great singer Arizona JJ’, government officials, including the Rwandan former minister of finance, representative from the office of the vice president and Chairperson of the economic cluster, Dr.Benjamin Bol Mel, which donated over 300 copies of the book to the students and more than 100 copies to community groups, guests and other invited faculties.

The event was organized by Africa World Book Publishers, through its CEO Peter Lual Deng and the South Sudanese Students’ Association in Rwanda (SSSAR).

WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK CELEBRATION ADJUORNS WITH AN HOUR RADIO TALKSHOW AT DOOR FM

August 1st, 2025.

The Amref Health Africa has adjourned the World Breastfeeding week celebration with an hour of radio engaging talkshow at Door FM, raising awareness on various issues affecting the healthy breastfeeding of babies as discussed during the live talkshow

The guets included the Amref health africa staff, Tonj South County, surveillance officer, nutrition supervisor, Kur Mathiang, M&E assistant, Mathiang Ajuang, and the Tonj County Surveillance Officer Johnson Machar.

The talk show was hosted under the theme "The World Breastfeeding Week Celebration 2025," which aimed at educating and sensitising lactating mothers to feed their babies within a durable time, maximum of two years for breastfeeding.

The World Breastfeeding week campaign is celebrated annually, at the first week of August yearly and it is mainly celebrated to educate mothers how to breastfeed their babies in order to gain a strong immune system and brain development of.

"A baby should at least be breastfed for two years, and for the first hour and a full week of delivery, a baby should most importantly breastfeed on colostrum (The yellow milk)," stated one of the guests.

The engaging topic and campaign were marked with inclusivity for all, as lines were opened for callers to share their views and ask for queries, which were later answered by the guests.

Jalwau, Thiik, and Akook communities agree to surrender guns to the government

Friday, August 1, 2025 - Tonj East County

H.E. Amb. Bol Wek Agoth successfully converged the communities of Jalwau and Akook at Ngapagok Payam HQRs. and held a separate meeting with Thiik community in Malual-Chum to disseminate peace and the State of Emergency.

The Governor of Warrap State pledged to implement the State of Emergency declared by H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit upon Warrap State without compromise, as a remedy to emerging lawlessness and avoidable conflicts in the State.

H.E. Amb. Bol Wek Agoth expressed his commitment to unite Greater Ananatak communities and reconcile them with Greater Luacjang. The Governor aims to transform both communities and engage them in productive activities such as trade and agriculture for lasting peace.

"I want the children to resume school, I yearn to see that the women living under trees return to their homes and the elders to experience a dignified life in their last days."Stated Governor Agoth during the meetings.

Governor Agoth introduced legal experts before the gatherings, who will facilitate access to Justice for the populations.

The Governor of Warrap departed soon after for Romic, Tonj East County where he is expected to make his address tomorrow, August 2, 2025.

Accompanying the Governor include; H.E. Ayak Bona, Gen. Garang Mabil, Rt. Hon. Kuec Deng Mayar, State Advisors, State Ministers, Heads of Independent Commissions, State MPs, and heads of security organs.
