CRN Policies validation workshop ends in Juba
The three-day Catholic Radio Network—CRN—policies validation workshop has come to an end in Juba.
Closing the workshop, the Bishop of Yei Diocese and Chairperson of the CRN Board of Directors, Alex Lodiong, has urged station directors and managers to use media as a tool to build both the Church and the people.
Bishop Lodiong thanked participants for their dedication and commitment throughout the training.
“You have exhausted your energy for these three days. I thank you all for coming,” he said.
He expressed special appreciation to partners, including Norwegian People’s Aid, for supporting the workshop.
The Bishop acknowledged the economic and social challenges facing the stations and , but reminded them that everyone has a role to play in building the Church.
He emphasized the importance of involving the laity in strengthening the Catholic Radio Network.
Looking ahead, Bishop Lodiong announced plans to mark World Communications Day on the 17th of October, encouraging dioceses across South Sudan to participate and pray for journalists.
Meanwhile, Sr. Paola, speaking on behalf of the Comboni family, praised the resilience and commitment of CRN members.
She noted the difficult beginnings of the network in South Sudan and commended staff for their faith and endurance.
“We started CRN to address critical issues in South Sudan. It was not easy, but today we see progress,” she said.
The Interim CRN Director, Fr. John Gbembeyo, thanked the Bishop for his support and encouraged better coordination between station managers and diocesan leadership.
He acknowledged ongoing challenges, including frequency issues, but expressed hope for progress.
Fr. Gbembeyo also revealed plans to strengthen communication among stations through the creation of a WhatsApp group
Speaking on behalf of participants Josephine Achiro welcomed the newly developed policy documents, saying they will improve the management and credibility of the network.
Achiro also emphasized the need for strategic planning and donor mapping to address challenges facing the stations.
On behalf of participants Achiro pledged to continue providing life-saving information to communities across South Sudan.

The workshop brought together CRN management, station directors, managers and board members from across the country to strengthen coordination and enhance the role of Catholic media in promoting peace, development, and evangelization.
