Dear H.E. Dr. Riek,
*Subject: Condemnation and Objection of Inclusion of Adhiok’s Areas into contested Areas for Evacuation*
The leadership of Mapiɔ̈rda would like to express its deepest disappointment and objection to you, Your Excellency, the governor of Jonglei State, on your evacuation orders of the contested areas in Twic East County that include Adhiok’s islands of Lang, Paluar, Panhom Kuai and Dohong.
It’s regrettable to conclude that Mr. Governor, you are being influenced by Hol community in this conflict. We want to remind you that the current conflict in the island is between Ayual and Hol and the epicenter of the conflict is Biothagany being the flush point between the two communities for two years now.
In this regard, Mr. Governor, you must follow the directives and evacuation orders of South Sudan People’s Defenses Forces (SSPDF) Chief of Defense Forces which specified Biothagany as the only island of crisis and not Adhiok’s islands. Find the attached orders from SSPDF.
Your excellency, any contradictions of the CDF’s orders, mean overriding them and it is a manipulation and insubordination of the military orders that were clearly spelt.
We therefore demand you Mr. Governor to revise your orders which excludes the aforementioned areas predominantly owned by Adhiok which are not subject to disputes.
Our areas have never been the focus of disputes in the past and present including our aggressors, Hol of Duk County and declaring them for evacuation is inviting Hol of Duk County to have claims over Adhiok’s areas amount to exacerbating and extending the conflict to Adhiok who are not interested although push to respond in self-defense.
We urge the county commissioner of Twic East County, Hon. Juach Arok Juach to advise the governor on the deliberate attempt to displace Adhiok from her territories and allow Hol to occupy them.
We respectfully ask the governor to use his influence to bring to an end the conflict between Ayual and Hol as Adhiok has been imprudently dragged into their conflict as if Adhiok was the genesis but Hol community through their own wife Hon. Atong Kuol Manyang who gave orders on banning of small fishing nets when she was Jonglei State Minister of Animal Resources and fisheries.
In conclusion, Mapiɔ̈rda reject in totality the inclusion of Adhiok’s areas into contested areas by Hol against Ayual and demand exclusion from the list by you Mr. governor to align with the CDF’s directives.
