Madut-Lanpuol Ayat, had these to say about all the nine sections of Apuk Giir Thiik before he died:
1. If there is a crime committed by an Apuk, let it be a Nyaar Amom to deny it before the law, because if it is left to an Adoor, then the entire community of Apuk may be consumed by the law. Because there is not even a single Adoor who can deny that which he has done, be it bad or good. This implies that at a point tragedy almost befalls Apuk, put a Nyaar Amom ahead to rescue people;
2. If there is a neighbour known of causing a border problem, put Jur Man-Angeer in the border with that enemy and expect the worse for that enemy, instead of worrying continuously. Juur Man-Angeer go with the wind;
3. If you had travelled when the tragedy befell Apuk, first rush towards Buoyar and Apol for rescue, because these two sections always suffer in silence, unlike others who are a bit more noisy. Buoyar and Apol are sheep sections;
4. If there is a secret, then don't share it with an Abuok, lest that info gets out of the box and backfires all of you. For they are not secret keepers;
5. If you hang your cloth atop a tree, leave for somewhere and come back later to repossess that your cloth, an Amuk Malith will confront you and warn that if you don't drop that cloth, which, according to him, belongs to him, then he would give you a bloody nose. The cloth in this context is not a material cloth, but a leadership position;
6. If there is a negotiation in which Apuk is involved and you know that that negotiation, however much you can present your position, will not yield positive outcomes for Apuk, then send an Abioor and a Biong. Those guys are too intolerant to bring home peace with them. They will eventually say, 'f**k negotiation and negotiators. If you don't accept what we say then we cannot accept yours also.'
Late Madut-Lanpuol Ayat, a man from the people of Puoot (collectively referred to as Payieet) , hailed from Abuok Maroldit, Apuk Giir Thiik.
