BREAKING :🚨🚨
Governor of Jonglei Suspends Akobo Commissioner in Surprise Move.

20.04.2025 | LN24 MEDIA

Bor, Jonglei State — In a surprise political development, Jonglei State Governor Dr. Riek G*i Kok has issued a gubernatorial order suspending the Commissioner of Akobo County, who was appointed under the SPLM-IO ticket. The decision has sent shockwaves through local political circles, raising questions about the stability of the coalition government in the state.

LN24 MEDIA has also obtained confidential information suggesting that a second suspension may be imminent, this time targeting the Commissioner of Fangak County—also affiliated with SPLM-IO.

This unfolding political shake-up has sparked speculation and concern: could these moves foster peace and stability in Jonglei State, or further inflame political tensions in the region?

Dr. Riek Machar Teny didn’t build a single tukul in his home town even anything made out of grass is not there. A man who had been in political sense for nearly four decades but never tried to fund a single project in his community though he had a lot of opportunity to make it. Show me where Dr. Riek Machar built a school or a Payam administration office in his home town. All he does over the years is rebellion, one after another and increasingly depopulating our country with reckless, self centered policies that aimed at building his own family. Following such an individual as a leader is non rather than just being an identically follower.

The Real Enemy of Ulang: When Liberators Turned into Looters

By: Kolongdit Media Reporter

For over a month, Ulang County was under the brutal grip of the Nuer White Army extremists. But instead of bringing protection or justice, they brought destruction, pain, and shame to their own people.

They looted the only MSF hospital.
They r***d women and young girls.
They stole from homes.
They burned what they couldn’t carry.
And they forced innocent civilians—children, mothers, elders—to flee into the bush.

Is that liberation?
Is that justice?

Yesterday, when SSPDF forces retook Ulang, something remarkable happened—the civilians rushed back to their town in joy, dancing, cheering, and celebrating the return of law and order. These were the same civilians who had fled with nothing but fear in their hearts, and they returned with hope in their eyes.

Let’s be honest now: Who is the real enemy of the people?

Is it the SSPDF that brought civilians back home?
Or the extremist White Army that turned Ulang into a nightmare?

You can’t claim to fight for the people while ra**ng their daughters.
You can’t call yourself a freedom fighter while stealing medicine meant to save lives.
You can’t be a liberator if your presence brings only death and destruction.

The truth is painful, but it must be said: The Nuer White Army extremists have become the enemy within.

This is a betrayal—of the Nuer community, of the people of Ulang, and of the values we claim to stand for. It’s time for moral clarity. Not every fighter is a hero. And not every rebel is a patriot.

Let Ulang County be a lesson:
Real liberation is when people sleep in peace, not run in fear.
Real protection is when hospitals stay open, not looted.
And real love for the community is shown through service—not terror.

The people have spoken. The world must listen.

BREAKING NEWS: White Army Militias Flee in Disarray as SSPDF Retakes Ulang County
April 17, 2025 | Ulang, Upper Nile State

In a dramatic turn of events, remnants of the White Army — a Nuer civilian militia group — have fled Ulang County in panic and disarray following a decisive operation by the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), leaving behind a trail of shattered morale and exposed falsehoods.

As government forces advanced on Ulang early Thursday morning, heavily armed and backed by coordinated state and civilian support, the once defiant White Army militia broke ranks and fled for their lives. Eyewitness accounts and intercepted communications reveal a chaotic escape marked by fear, betrayal, and internal disintegration.

"We were scattered, and most of us were killed. We had no ammunition left, and those who encouraged us from Juba and Malakal misled us badly," confessed one surviving fighter, speaking under anonymity from the outskirts of Nasir. "They told us the government troops were few. But what we saw was something else. They came with heavy artillery, tanks, and armored vehicles. We stood no chance."

The group, known for launching surprise attacks and destabilizing local governance, had forcibly ousted the legitimate commissioner in Ulang last month and installed their own leader. But their rule was short-lived. Sources confirm that the SSPDF’s entry into Ulang was swift and strategically executed, supported by local residents who had grown weary of the group’s lawlessness.

As the dust settles in Ulang, many of the retreating fighters now find themselves isolated, disarmed, and demoralized. Some are believed to be hiding near the Ethiopian border, while others have attempted to regroup in Nasir — now anticipated to be the next target of the SSPDF.

Meanwhile, the people of Ulang are beginning to emerge from the shadows, returning to their homes with a renewed sense of hope and trust in the national army.

Government forces retake Ulang town from SPLM-IO and affiliated militia

The South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) have regained control of Ulang town in Upper Nile State after a recent rebellion by SPLA-IO forces and allied militia group.

Maj. Gen. Michael Majok, commander of SSPDF Second Division based in Malakal, confirmed the development in an interview with Radio Tamazuj on Thursday. He said government forces entered Ulang earlier in the day following a joint operation involving the army, the state government, and local civilians.

The SPLA-IO seized control of the area last month, ousting the county commissioner appointed by the government and installing their own leader. The group also opposed SSPDF plans to redeploy troops in neighboring Nasir County.

Ulang County, located about 152 kilometers from Malakal, borders Baliet and Nasir counties, as well as Jonglei State and Ethiopia.

Maj. Gen. Majok credited the success of the operation to strong cooperation from local residents. “All these joined efforts allowed us to be victorious,” he said.

Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth Condemns Jekow Attack, Consolidates Maiwut County for Peace

Juba, April 17, 2025 — A former South Sudanese government official Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth condemned an early morning attack on SSPDF soldiers in Jekow, Maiwut County. The attack, which was said to have occurred on April 17, 2025 around 5:00 AM, was carried out by a group of civilians and SPLA-IO soldiers who allegedly attacked through the Ethiopian border.

In a statement released on his page, Gatkuoth, a native of the region, called upon the people of Maiwut County to avoid violence and maintain peace. He directed that the culprits behind orchestrating criminality in the region were keeping communities busy destabilizing them rather than helping them.

"These people mobilizing you to commit these criminal acts are not helping you — they are destroying you," Gatkuoth stated.

Emphasizing the necessity of keeping South Sudan and bordering Ethiopia in close relations, he stated that criminals on the border would be tackled by concerted efforts from both countries.

The event has prompted fresh fear of cross-border security and ongoing tensions in Maiwut County.

Title:
Even If Riek Becomes President, Will the Nuer Ever Stop Rebellion? A Harsh Reality Check for South sudan.

Introduction:

South Sudan's long path to independence has been drenched in the blood of its people. Yet peace still remains a mirage. At the heart of this turbulent journey lies a hard truth that no one dares to speak loudly: the Nuer, despite producing iconic leaders like Dr. Riek Machar, continue to use rebellion as a tool of negotiation, a badge of identity, and a method of imposing demands. Even if Riek Machar were handed the presidency today, the painful cycle of rebellion, internal rivalry, and unquenchable greed within the Nuer community threatens to destroy any hope of national unity.

1. A Warrior Tradition Turned Against the Nation

The Nuer are known for bravery—a trait deeply rooted in their culture. Historically, they were cattle raiders, fearless fighters, and defenders of their land. But in modern politics, this warrior mentality has evolved into a dangerous resistance to order and structure. Instead of channeling this courage into nation-building, it has become a weapon of division.

In 1991, Riek Machar split from John Garang’s SPLM/A in what became known as the SPLA-Nasir faction, resulting in the Bor Massacre, where over 2,000 Dinka civilians were slaughtered. This wasn't just a military rebellion—it was a tribal declaration. And despite reconciliation talks and peace deals, the legacy of that betrayal still haunts South Sudan.

2. Ngundeng’s Prophecy: A Dangerous Mythology

The belief that Riek Machar is the "chosen one" of Prophet Ngundeng B**g has been the spiritual engine behind many Nuer political decisions. Ngundeng’s prophecies—often quoted by Nuer elites—speak of a Nuer leader who would "rule over all South Sudanese and bring justice." This narrative has not only elevated Riek to a near-messianic status among his people, but also created an untouchable myth that justifies rebellion whenever things don’t go their way.

But what happens when this “anointed one” fails to deliver?

In 2016, when Riek was reinstated as First Vice President in Juba under the August 2015 Peace Agreement, Nuer militias and generals—some of them claiming loyalty to him—still continued to splinter and rebel, demanding more power, more positions, more wealth.

Even Prophet Ngundeng’s own descendant, James Gatdet Dak, Riek’s former spokesman, was not spared. He was accused of betrayal and detained, showing that internal mistrust runs deeper than tribal loyalty.

3. Rebellion as a Political Tradition: Who Will Break the Cycle?

The sad truth is, rebellion has become a career path for many Nuer politicians and generals. When they are not given the "big pot"—a powerful position or access to oil money—they immediately resort to violence. This has created a toxic pattern:

1991: Riek rebels against Garang (SPLA split).

1997: Signs the Khartoum Peace Agreement with Bashir—only to rejoin SPLA later.

2013: Riek clashes with Salva Kiir—igniting a civil war that kills hundreds of thousands.

2016: Returns to Juba under peace agreement—only to fight again and flee.

2021–2023: SPLM-IO splits into multiple factions, including Kitgwang Declaration led by Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual.

Even if Riek is crowned president tomorrow, others in his own tribe—those with grudges, ambition, or hunger for power—will rise against him. It’s not about peace. It’s about position. The idea of “we rebel to negotiate” has taken root so deeply that it may no longer be possible to govern the Nuer even by one of their own.

4. Greed, Betrayal, and Lack of Trust Among Themselves

One of the greatest tragedies of Nuer politics is their internal betrayal. Riek Machar’s own commanders have often turned against him. From Peter Gatdet Yak to Gatwech Dual, those once loyal have accused him of selfishness and weak leadership.

In 2021, Gen. Gatwech accused Riek of being compromised and weak, forming his own faction—the SPLM/A-IO Kitgwang. Gatwech even declared himself “interim chairman,” an outright coup against Riek.

This betrayal proves a harsh truth: if the Nuer cannot trust their own leader, why should the rest of South Sudan trust them with national leadership?

5. Will a Nuer Presidency Bring Peace? Don't Hold Your Breath.

Let us be brutally honest. If Riek becomes president today, the only thing that changes is the title. The factions will still emerge. Greedy generals will feel excluded. Those who believe they fought more than others will demand a bigger reward. Those who feel “neglected” will scream marginalization and pick up arms. The rebellion culture is so deeply rooted that no presidency will fix it.

This isn’t tribal hatred—this is a political reality backed by blood-soaked history.

Conclusion: South Sudan Needs National Leaders, Not Tribal Champions

If South Sudan wants peace, it must outgrow tribal loyalties and spiritual prophecies. The Nuer community must face the bitter truth: repeated rebellions and internal divisions will never earn respect nor power—they will only isolate the community further.

Quoting the late SPLA Commander William Nyuon Bany:

> "You don’t build a nation by fighting your own people; you build it by standing with them, even when you disagree."

Until the Nuer community begins to reject rebellion as a way of negotiation, and until leaders like Riek Machar stop using tribal backing as leverage for power, peace will remain a dream.

South Sudan deserves better. Not a tribal president, but a unifier. Not a rebel commander, but a statesman.

Public Update on the Security Situation in Malakal City

The Government of South Sudan wishes to inform the public about the current security developments concerning the planned attack by the so-called "White Army" on Malakal City.
Intelligence reports indicate that the White Army is planning to launch an attack on Malakal. In response, the South Sudan People's Defence Forces (SSPDF) have launched a robust security operation to neutralize the threat. The SSPDF will deploy ten drones to track and monitor the movement of these terrorist elements in areas surrounding Malakal to ensure the safety and protection of civilians.

In a positive development, the Gaajak community in Maiwut has taken a firm stand by blocking the White Army’s retreat route towards Gambella, Ethiopia. This local initiative has significantly contributed to curbing the movement of the armed group.
Additionally, the Government of Ethiopia has deployed forces along the shared border with South Sudan to prevent any unauthorized entry by members of the White Army. This bilateral cooperation reflects a strong commitment to regional peace and security.

The Government of South Sudan remains dedicated to maintaining stability and protecting its citizens from all forms of armed threats.

We thank our communities and regional partners for their continued support and vigilance.
