𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒: In DRC, the Alur community chased away a medical team that came to bury an Ebola victim.

The community doesn’t believe Ebola is real and calls it a “concoction”.

This mindset is dangerous because denying Ebola + refusing safe burials increases spread risk for everyone.

𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆! Over six people including a Ugandan killed in Morobo, CES.

Local sources report that SPLA-IO forces attacked a South Sudan People's Defence Forces (SSPDF) outpost in Kendila Boma, Morobo County, Central Equatoria State, killing more than six people (CES) at approximately 19:00 on Monday, May 25, 2026.

The deceased include a Ugandan worker, army officers, and employees contracted to construct a bridge there.

The SPLA-IO fighters reportedly overran the SSPDF position and took control of the area. There are no official reports from County authorities and the army spokesperson in Juba.

However, Central Equatoria State authorities have confirmed and condemned in the strongest terms the attack carried out by elements of SPLA/IO Forces on a Technical Team who are rehabilitating the Kendila Bridge in Morobo County.

In Morobo, while local authorities are prioritizing peace and socio-economic improvements, the area has a history of clashes between the SSPDF and SPLA-IO, which have severely disrupted humanitarian and medical services.

WFP resumes food airdrops in Akobo, South Sudan.

The United Nations food organization resumed emergency aid operations on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in response to a critical humanitarian situation where tens of thousands of people are facing catastrophic hunger levels in Akobo.

The humanitarian outlook in Akobo has deteriorated rapidly following renewed conflict between government and opposition forces in March and April 2026.

Approximately 73,300 people across South Sudan are projected to face "Catastrophe" (IPC Phase 5) hunger levels between April and July 2026, with Akobo identified as a primary area of concern.

Local reports indicate a surge in severe acute malnutrition among children under five due to a total lack of food and basic healthcare services.

As of May 6, 2026, sorghum had run out in Akobo's markets because insecurity has prevented river boats from delivering goods for over three weeks.
