Zain South Sudan boosts healthcare in Twic County with major donation

Zain South Sudan has extended a helping hand to Twic County in Warrap State by donating essential medical equipment and committing to cover the salaries of clinic staff for one year.

The donation was officially handed over on July 4, 2025, at the Zain South Sudan headquarters in Juba. The event was led by the company’s Acting CEO, Mr. Wilson Alsio, and attended by several dignitaries.

Mr. Wilson highlighted Zain’s commitment to supporting local communities, noting that the company has been active in health, education, and sports initiatives across the country. He recalled Zain’s support during the COVID-19 crisis and its sponsorship of the South Sudan national football team as examples of its broader social responsibility.

“Good health is the foundation for development and effective communication,” he said. “As a telecom company, we are proud to go beyond connectivity and serve where the need is greatest.”

In addition to the support to Twic County, Zain also contributes to facilities such as Gudele Hospital in Juba.

Twic County officials, Hon. George Akot and Hon. Rehan Ajuet, welcomed the initiative and praised Zain’s commitment. They expressed readiness to collaborate with the company to ensure lasting impact.

A young boy who touched the hearts of many by celebrating South Sudan’s 14th Independence Anniversary on his worn-out bicycle has received overwhelming support from well-wishers across the country.

The generous donations include a brand-new bicycle, food items, clothes, and an electric bicycle that is expected to arrive soon from Dubai.

Community members and donors praised the boy’s spirit and patriotism, calling him an inspiration to both young and old. Many have pledged to continue supporting him to ensure he pursues his dreams with pride and hope.

A distinguished South Sudanese entrepreneur and philanthropist, Mr. Athuai Athuai Achuil, has generously donated six state-of-the-art motorbikes to the Warrap State Government. The donation is intended to bolster the mobility of government employees.

As the Managing Director of Kalkuel Multipurposes for Investment Co. Ltd, Athuai made the donation on Monday at the State House in Kuajok. The motorbikes were officially received by the Governor of Warrap State, Ambassador Bol Wek Agoth, and the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, Mr. Santino Ngong Longar.

According to state officials, the motorbikes will significantly improve the mobility and efficiency of support staff within various government departments.

Upon receiving the donation, Governor Bol expressed his gratitude for the generous gesture, stating that the donation comes at an opportune time and serves as a testament to Athuai's unwavering dedication to community development.
