Army Denies Role in Bagari's Killings as Residents Raise Concerns
Bagari: Hot in Wau
The SSPDF Division Five Infantry has denied involvement in recent killings and looting along roads in Baggari. Speaking on Voice of Hope Radio, Chief of Moral Orientation Col. Awan Deng Amoum attributed the attacks to armed cattle keepers and criminals misusing army uniforms, insisting that soldiers remain in their barracks.
He further stated that conflicts between pastoralists and farmers are not linked to the army and called for peaceful resolution of disputes.
However, residents in the affected areas have raised concerns, alleging that the same armed cattle keepers mentioned by the Colonel are often seen moving with army vehicles and heavy weapons, fueling suspicion among the public.
The incidents reported in areas including Five Miles , Bringi, and Natabu villages have yet to receive an official response from state authorities.
Resident’s Question: “If these armed cattle keepers are not supported by the army as claimed, how are they able to use army vehicles and heavy weapons and move freely from Wau town to Baggari area without being stopped by security forces?”
