Vice President Hussein Abdelbagi Arrives in Kuajok

KUAJOK, MAY 26, 2026 - Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Service Delivery Cluster, on Monday evening arrived in Kuajok for an official engagement with the State Government.
Upon arrival, the Vice President was received by state government officials led by Aluel Garang Garang.

During his visit, the Vice President is expected to hold meetings with state officials to discuss key challenges facing the state, particularly issues related to service delivery under the Service Delivery Cluster which he chairs.

Just in: EX Finance Minister Marial Dongrin Released From Blue House Detention

Former Finance Minister Hon. Dr. Marial Dongrin Ater has reportedly been released from Blue House detention and transferred to his residence under open arrest, according to family sources.

The family confirmed the development on wednesday, saying the former minister is now staying at his home while remaining under government supervision.

No official statement has yet been issued regarding the conditions surrounding his release.

South Sudan trader denied access to goods in Uganda, told to buy from foreign nationals in Juba

A South Sudan businessman, Mayen Yai Angok, has accused Uganda’s soda factories of preventing South Sudanese traders from purchasing wholesale commodities directly, alleging that they are instead being instructed to buy from foreign nationals operating in Juba.

According to Mayen, Ethiopian traders allegedly signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ugandan’s soda producing companies granting them exclusive rights to import certain goods into South Sudan.

“They have signed an agreement to be the only ones allowed to transport soda to South Sudan,” he claimed.

Yai called on the Ministry of Trade and Industry, alongside the Chamber of Commerce, to urgently intervene and investigate the matter to ensure South Sudanese traders are free to import goods of their choice.

“We urgently need the Ministry of Trade to investigate this matter. If such control continues, where will local traders buy goods, and how can anyone allow foreign entities to dominate trade within our own country?” he added.
