Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal State | January 23, 2026
The State Ministry of Education & General Introduction has on Friday oriented newly appointed head teachers and school supervisors in preparation for the 2026 academic year, which is slated to begin next month.
The orientation meeting brought together education officials and school leaders to discuss shared responsibilities among schools, the Ministry, and Parent–Teacher Associations (PTAs), with a focus on improving academic performance in government schools.
Speaking to the media, Donato Ugali, Chairperson of the committee and Head of the Quality Promotion Department, expressed appreciation to both outgoing and incoming head teachers for accepting transfers as part of routine administrative procedures within government institutions.
“We hope to witness positive change and improved academic performance in government schools this year,” Ugali said.
The newly appointed Inspector at the Ministry of Education, Aida Michael Dunia, urged supervisors to closely monitor schools in order to obtain accurate information and identify key challenges that require urgent intervention.
Meanwhile, Karlo Ali Juma, the newly appointed head teacher of Al-Muktah Boys Primary School, who was transferred from Tobi Primary School, expressed gratitude to the committee for the confidence placed in him.
“I have no problem with the transfer. As a professional teacher, my goal is to teach, and I am ready to serve anywhere,” he said.
Earlier, on January 8, 2026, the Director General at the Ministry of Education and General Instruction, Juma Suleman Ramadan, formed a committee mandated to review and transfer head teachers who had served more than three years in the same government schools within Wau Municipality and the surrounding counties. The committee was tasked to submit its report within one week.
