π¨ ππππππ π± Agriculture Takes Center Stage as CODEP Launches Support Program in Yambio.
Farmers in Yambio County are set to benefit from a forward-looking agricultural initiative spearheaded by the Catholic Organisation for Development and Peace (CODEP), aimed at improving food production and building resilient communities in Western Equatoria State.
The six-month program, developed in partnership with local authorities, will focus on Uze (Baakiwiri) and Ngindo Boma (Baguga), reaching approximately 100 beneficiaries particularly those most vulnerable. Participants will receive essential farm inputs, including tools and improved seeds, alongside practical training in modern, climate-smart farming methods.
As part of the initiative, farmers will also take part in a learning visit to a successful farm in Riimenze, offering valuable real-world insights to enhance their productivity and farming practices.
More than just an agricultural intervention, the project integrates humanitarian support by providing food and non-food assistance to displaced and at-risk households, while also addressing key needs in health and education.
Yambio County Commissioner Hon. Angelo Bakote praised the initiative, noting its importance in strengthening local livelihoods and reducing reliance on external aid. He highlighted that investing in farmers is a direct investment in the regionβs stability and future.
With strong community participation expected, the project represents a bold step toward sustainable growth, improved food security, and self-reliance across Yambio County.
